View Full Version : Karaoke in Sheffield?
Hi,
Does anyone know of any karaoke type events that are going on in Sheffield at the moment, or in the near future, preferably with prizes?!
Ousetunes 03-08-2006, 11:34 Why? Do you know of a potential Petula Clarke?
Ghostrider 03-08-2006, 11:57 Try westway on west st.
They have karaoke on monday - I beleive they are doing them on tuesdays as well starting next week.
Also the fox pub in foxhill - they usually run a competition with a £1000 first prize.
steffi-bird 03-08-2006, 12:42 Devonshire Arms on Herries Road have one every Thursday sometimes they have competitions, also Bedroom on West Street have them on Sunday with prizes.
The Bedroom on West street as a karaoke on Sunday nights 8pm onwards
Someone just won £1000 for Bedroom Idol, i beleive the competition is starting again!
Its a good night too, with cheap drinks :hihi:
absynthfairy 06-08-2006, 18:07 Monday - I go to Westway, brill night, Andy is very funny and only £1.60 a pint - sing til 12 and every song in the world ever!
Thursday & Friday - The Crown - London Road. Mick is a darlin' and has an amazing sound system/mic setup. Alertnative for Friday is the Parish Oven in Thorpe Salvin - bit of a trek but a top top night.
Saturday - Mick again at The Birley in Mosborough.
No prizes but good atmospheres and great singers!
Not a lot of competitions up here to be honest - you should pop down to Birmingham - loads there. You can always guarantee the chap that turns up and sings "If your not the one" by Daniel Beddingfield will win - lost out 5 times now to somebody singing that - different blokes, different places.

Will see you tonight then fairy !
geckoqueen 07-08-2006, 11:18 Try the Nelson on Wednesday, especially if you like your rock karaoke.
8 pints given away every week, and Andy (who has already been mentioned) is fantastic!
Would this be Andy J by any chance?!
I know, was in the Bedroom comp myself....the girl who won definitely wowed the crowd a lot so credit to her, and she had a good voice, and I think that's the thing, even if you can sing, if you don't get the crowd going as much as someone else, your chances aren't as good......never mind, we'll all be famous one day!
absynthfairy 07-08-2006, 12:20 Will see you tonight then fairy !
Will I have seen you there some other time? I like outing forum members!
I won't be there tonight - all my friends are on holiday:(
I entered the bedroom competition but went on a bad night and there was loads of trouble and didn't stick around to see how I'd done for fear of my general safety! Last competition I entered I won and wound up at a dubious pub in doncaster for the semi final which was being judged by the manager of marks and spencer for some reason - 10 out of 30 semi finalists were to go through to the next round and they only put boys through!
You might have done, I was there are fair bit, and was in the final....not going to tell you who though! It was a very late night!
It was a very late night, all the contestants were fantastic, brilliant atmosphere too,
you should re enter, it's only just started and anyone can enter..
if i could sing i would! but i dont want to break the windows.. :hihi:

You have not seen me in westway - the last time you saw me was when your band was playing in the moorfoot.
For some reason you told the group you were with that you loved me (and not for the reason you dirty minded lot are thinking :hihi: )
Dont say who I am though
geckoqueen 07-08-2006, 22:01 Would this be Andy J by any chance?!
The one and only!
The Nelson prizes are random, picked from a jug, so it doesn't matter who the better singer/crowd pleaser is. I suppose I'm probably reducing my chances by telling other people about it aren't I?
absynthfairy 08-08-2006, 08:35 Dont say who I am though
Secret is safe with me - we're at the moorfoot again on saturday night if you're about:)

Yeah the Bedroom.. The final happened about 2 weeks ago but they've started all over again, it's a good laugh it was quite busy sunday just gone,
Maybe we should make it an unofficial sf meet.. see who the karaoke king/queen of SF is? :hihi:
But i wont be singing! :gag:
absynthfairy 08-08-2006, 09:28 A karaoke meet would be a fab idea! Anyone else up for it? Bedroom this sunday???????
Might be better starting a new thread...?

we can always have another one at a later date.. if this sunday goes well we could make it a regular occurance! :hihi:
absynthfairy 08-08-2006, 09:33 oops we both just started one! I'll put a note on mine for the mods to delete it:)
oh yes,,,, count me in,, err, is it ok even u not really good though?
absynthfairy 08-08-2006, 09:35 Thats half the fun!:)
ha hah a! at least,,have a bit of it !! lol
Wait til you hear some of them that sing.. especially as the competition is only just starting.. hope the windows are insured type of singing!
ha ha haha h!! thats really really fun !!!
I can't do this Sunday....but then I don't think I can cope with so many late nights again, as I have to be up at 6 every morning, plus, i think the final is going to be in Hull this time, so if I got through, it's just too far. If they do it again though, after this one, I think the final's going to be in Wakefield, so will probably do it then.
Enjoy though!
What did you think to the winner then? Liek I said, she really got the crwod going, and could sing, so it's a combination of everything I think.
I thought she was very good, not sure on where the final will be though.. i'll try and find out
Ghostrider 08-08-2006, 12:35 Secret is safe with me - we're at the moorfoot again on saturday night if you're about:)
I will be there
absynthfairy 08-08-2006, 13:25 Good news - just started a thread to advertise it a bit - was good there last time and free beer is always a bonus!:)
absynthfairy 08-08-2006, 13:26 I thought she was very good, not sure on where the final will be though.. i'll try and find out
What did she sing to get the crowd going so much? I'm curious...I never know what to sing in competitions:)
She just sang upbeat songs, and the one that she sang when it was down to the final 3, was "Better The Devil You Know" by Kylie. It's not the hardest of songs to sing, but you could tell she was really enjoying it, plus, having a load of mates to cheer you on boosts the "crowd response" score.
Was a great night, but it didn't finish until 1.20am, so I had 4 hours sleep that night, and my mates didn't have much more! Bless them!
As long as you're upbeat and have fun and get the crowd going.. the microphone is cordless so walk round.. you'll do fine!
nelson on a wednesday night is a wicked night u could win 8 pints of beer or larger and yeah its random the more u sing better your chances to win.Andy the kj is good he also has a massive selection of songs.
