Jingles, adverts, particular presenters (they didn't like to be referred to as dee-jays. mojoworking 30-06-2004, 01:00 I've got some cassettes somewhere. Why do you want them? I sometimes used to tape the post match phone-ins on Saturday evenings during the late 70s/early 80s. They were great for a laugh. You know the kind of thing: And we've got Gordon from Gleadless on line one. What would you like to say Gordon? "av just got back from t'Lane an' ahd just like to say that United were bloody rubbish!" Thanks for that insight Gordon, and here's Steve from Stannington... And so it would go on for hours. In fact it probably still does. MrH 30-06-2004, 16:16 There's some classic Roger Moffat (both at Hallam and the BBC) clips to download from this site: http://www.vintagebroadcasting.org.uk/rmoffatt.htm Chris M 01-07-2004, 13:54 Can anyone recall the words to the Hallam jingle that was played back in 1974 when it first came on air. It was the one that went - "If you live in Sheffield or on the Yorkshire Moors !!! " that's all I can remember. I think it was dropped after a few months. And most people can recall the first record to be played on Radio One in 67. Can anyone remember the first disc to be played on Hallam ? mowith 01-07-2004, 15:00 Whether you live in Sheffield Or on the Yorkshire moors You can be sure That we are yours .... anytime Sheffield20 01-07-2004, 16:29 Originally posted by mowith Whether you live in Sheffield Or on the Yorkshire moors You can be sure That we are yours .... anytime www.deedah.dsl.pipex.com/audio/WhetherYouLiveinSheffield.mp3 More if you're interested... snowboarder 01-07-2004, 16:33 And most people can recall the first record to be played on Radio One in 67. Can anyone remember the first disc to be played on Hallam ? [/B] Yes it was KIKI DEE Ive got the music in me, and it got stuck half way through.....I have that on tape, the opening show, Johnny Moran I think it was. I want old tapes as I used to listen a lot from 75 to 79 time and would love to hear those old "presenters" again....and that wonderful laid back approach they had, nothing like the INYER FACE Hallam FM now which seems to be run by CHAVS who shout down their microphones amid the latest horrible extended dance mixes of mindless chavvy crap.... snowboarder 01-07-2004, 16:39 Originally posted by Sheffield20 www.deedah.dsl.pipex.com/audio/WhetherYouLiveinSheffield.mp3 More if you're interested... Love to hear the one that goes on for about 3 minutes and has a very catchy chorus something like.... Morning will rise, and the sound of footsteps, its the carpet you walk on the whole day long...(something something) you are invincible coz u are strong (?).... remember that one? a late night one I think when they ran out of records to play before the news.... Marky Baby 05-07-2004, 15:46 I have a couple of tapes of Mike Powerhouse Rouse tapes if you,re interested? snowboarder 05-07-2004, 16:59 Would they be from "Rousey Saturday" lunchtimes in the 70's? Did not listen to that much but I remember the show. Be interstsing to listen again. I would love to hear their top 40 countdown show again which always played all 40 chart singles right to the very end, with no mindless DJ talking over the beginning or fade out,all back to back and mixed together in blocks of three.....great show. Punctuiated by those fab jingles "Its nice to have a radio station as a friend" etc...... Marky Baby 06-07-2004, 06:38 I think that one of the tapes is his last 'Powerhouse Disco Show' that used to go out at seven o'clock on Friday nights (Just before Ray Stuart's 'Hallam Soul Express) and the other is a show that was broadcasted live from the Sheffield Show at Hillsborough Park. p.s. Do you remember that Radio Hallam's news used to go out at 5 minutes to the hour so that the shows could start on the hour? They used to have a jingle that boasted "You get the news...5 minutes sooner, On Radio Hallam!" I remember hearing one of the engineers explaining that the news feed from IRN in London was broadcast on the hour, so in fact you got the 55 minutes late, on Radio Hallam. mowith 06-07-2004, 10:17 Radio Hallam compiled its own bulletins using local reporters and clips from the IRN feed (sent during the day), for national and international news. This allowed it put out the bulletin before the IRN on-the-hour bulletin which some stations did take. tara 20-08-2005, 12:05 Resurrected this old thread as i would like to know if anyone remembers the name of the Tom Jones track that radio hallam often used for one of their jingles in the 70s. davep 20-08-2005, 20:30 The first record WAS Kiki Dee I've got the music in me, but it shouldn't have been, because they had teed up James Taylor You've got a friend (which was to be their theme), but it failed to start when Johnny Moran hit the switch. That record ended up going out as the second one, followed by the jingle "You can be sure you have a friend, in Radio Hallam" The Hallam Song went: Whether you live in Sheffield or on the Yorkshire Moors You can be sure that we are yours, anytime. And if you live in Rotherham or on the river Don as far as we're concerned you're number one, anytime The sound of music fills the air above the meadows, dales and hills, and suddenly the world's a nicer place to be alive in, all because you're tuned to Radio Hallam, Stereo oh oh oh oh. The first advert broadcast was for Birds Eye Economy Fish Sticks (10 for 26p). I've got the Hallam song on my computer but unfortunately it is saved as a WAV file and it takes up a staggering 9.61 Mbytes of memory !!!! |
