my mate has them from time to time. there is a lady in chesterfield who is meant to be good. mate came down all way from durham just to see her as also worked out cheaper as is more expensive up north and previous one wasnt that good a job.

I saw someone last week having them put in, I didn't know it was such a procedure, I thought you just went and bought them, brought them home and put them in yourself:confused:

I'd love to have hair extensions. My hair's fairly long at the minute, but I've always fancied waist-length curls. Pre-Raphaelite red, I think. They'd be too much trouble (and too expensive) to maintain though.

I bought mine from Extra's in meadowhall - £50 and they are human hair and clip in - you get 11 peices all together - failry self explanatory where you should clip them in your own hair and they are virtually undetectable and don't move til you take them out -i've slept in mine even - i'll post some pictures. Just wish it wasn't so hot! Like wearing a scarf at the minute!

Absynthfairy, is Extras a hairdressers or just a shop? I want to see if I can find a branch near me, or I may have to make an early trip up the M1 to Meadowhall. I really like those extensions. Do they do different lengths and a good selections of colours? I quite fancy really long ones in a darkish red/brown.

Yours look great too, gerrardsbabe, but I think the ones Absynthfairy has sound like they'd be a little easier to put it.

Hi Hecate

I had bonded extensions for a year- they looked fab but they were ridiculous to look after- it was SUCH a trauma. They fell out no matter how much I looked after them and they cost a fortune in special shampoos and treatments and brushes etc.

My mum bought me some clip in ones. They ARE FAB!!!!!!!!!!! they are real hair so you can style them and dye them to match your hair colour. They must be better for your hair too. Plus if you like them you can always commit yourself to paying for them to be done permanently!

Hecate
03-08-2006, 22:42
Thanks, princessL83. I like the idea of being able to dye them to match your own hair colour. That would be very handy as I do have a tendency to get a wee bit bored with the colour of my hair every few months.

mine r clip in ones, i put em in on night outs and take them out in the day, i hae them curly i have em in differnt colours, http://pics.mingleville.com/g/gerrardsbabe28/115456187571128DGgW3nGZ.jpg

it just that people who want long hair all the time its best to glue in, i had bonds, i had racoon hair and its was a nightmare to look after the hair fell out loads, one thing i do recommend with hair extensions is u buy a good shampoo and conditionor as they do dry out, buy em for hair extensions....
the shop sells allsors of colours i might go darker brown with lightning blue strips in it oohhh i love hair hahaha u can tell im doing hairdressing

I've been having a look at some of those clip-in extensions on various web sites. They do look remarkably easy to put in, and much better than having the things glued in (sounds messy).

I rather like the idea of either some brighter red or maybe black sections mingled in with my hair, though my initial idea of waist-length curls might be a bit too expensive. Pity.

The blue would look great with your blonde hair, gerrardsbabe, though I think it'd look a bit freaky on me. I don't have your colouring.

I bought mine from ebay- a bit risky in hindsight since you can't physically match the colours! I must have been incredibly lucky:thumbsup:

If you're like me make sure you buy them already weaved I bet is a nightmare trying to fix the clips yourself!

Its a little shop in the lanes Hecate, sells perfume and makeup n stuff - not sure if they'd have other branches - I was going to buy some off ebay but I was scared the colours wouldn't match and I'd have paid a bit less but would have wonky colours. They did have some dark red ones - they were nice actually. Mine are 18inches and reach midway down my back but you could get 21 inch ones for a bit more - You need at least a pack of 11(2 longs bits for the nape of your neck, 5 shorter bits for round your crown and 4 short bits for the sides - talking width wise here) to do your whole head but saying that my hair is rather thick (so the hairdresser tells me). Also mine came with the clips attatched but I know you can get them without clips and do them yourself for less (sazk23 was telling me this ages ago when I started a thread about extensions ages ago) I'm not to handy with a needle and thread though and was scared I'd mess them up!

Gonna try and curl mine tonight with my GHD's and feel a bit excited!

I had hair extensions glued in for a wedding I was in 3 months ago/ The bride is a hairdresser so she put extensions in for all 6 bridesmaids! I have really short hair too - boy short. I knew nothing about them at the time and I thought they would last one or two days. But I kept them in for 2 weeks! If I had know how well they would work I would have prepared for having long hair. After 2 weeks the only way I could get them out was to saturate my hair with olive oil and then dunk my head in a bath of really warm water. I would like to do it again when the weather gets a little cooler. Here in the States the hair itself costs about $25 for 12 inches (human hair) and the glue was only $1. 1 pound equals about $1.80 right now so you can see how cheap it was. I also helped with putting in some for the other bridesmaids so I have a good idea of how to put them in. I will have to find some "before and after" pics to post for you. The other bridesmaids in the wedding had shoulder length hair so mine was the most dramatic change because my hair is so short.

I also have them i go to a place in Rotherham and she's fab!! for a 20inch length of human hair any color (u can have more than one) glued in, topped up twice and taken out she charges 180 pounds i think shes great. They last me around 4months everytime i have em in. You can pay 10pounds to have them topped up every few weeks aswell as the 2 free ones. She also does clip ins and the prices vary from 70pounds - 90 pounds. If anyone wants the number i can give it.
