Did anyone else see last nights episode of Top Gear?

I thought it was one of the funniest, especially the vans.

my boyfriend made me watch it which i didnt want to do but then it did make me laugh with how silly they are

The scene where James May was trying to tailgate the car in front but couldn't catch up with it, made me laugh so hard I nearly lost control of my bladder.

My girflriend is soooo not into cars, but even she watches it with me coz it is really funny!

Did yoou see a couple of weeks back when they set their neighbours caravan alight (or their awning at least), let alone there own?! Now that was good tele!:D

The two best bits last night were:

1: when they had to change the van doors and JC gaffer taped his up - then it fell off

2: When 'tippex teeth' (as he was called last night) attempted to 'flick' his van round that corner - and hilariously failed

I like it, apart from Jeremy Clarkson. That man is an arse.

Top Gear is the only programme about cars that I will watch, and I know some of it is staged - but it is still funny,

Exactly, its not just a programme about cars, its an entertaining show - the vans were great yesterday - even better, before the world cup was the amphibious cars challenge :)

A setup, I'm afraid (he was wearing a full race harness after the flip) but still v funny.
I thought it was going to flip even without the blatant 'encouragement'.

I still want to see the 'best of' episodes over the next couple of weeks or so.

Exactly...3 idiots...one of them the master. Jeremy Clarkson uses this programme simply for his own ego flexing.
Stupid camera angles and lighting, hardly anything about the cars anymore.

Exactly - thats why we have a on/off button and a selection of other channels.

My problem is that I used to like it. It used to be mainly about cars.
It's only this latest series where apparently they need to spend time acting like a bunch of middle aged hooligans cross bred with brainless sea slugs.
If they could get back to just hooning some flash cars around a circuit, doing the occasional comparison of family hatchbacks and talking about the latest releases of cars, then i'd be perfectly happy.
I have no interest, nor need to see how someone can stage being a moron with a caravan, it's not entertainment and it's not about cars.

My only quibble is the obsession with supercars; I'd be happier seeing a head-to-head between a Cleo and a Corsa as I would be between a Ferrari and a 911.

Though supercars are appealing to the eye they are out of reach to the majority and 'normal' cars are better to discuss.

Love TG but glad its end of season as i think they have begun to clutch at straws and go down hill a little. It never used to be a comedy thing or silly races it was all about ENGINES and FAST super cars which was ace

I've no idea who the new one is. There's a rumour that it's either Mansell or Hill. Well it ain't Mansell because he's too fat and Hill's too slow these days, so I can't see it being either.

i watched the repeat of top gear last night whilst eating my tea.....i nearly choked on a chickpea!

i think its funny and their puerile boyish humour amuses me- i think i also have a little crush on the boy hammond- which is just very wrong, i know.

It's been confirmed that the stig in black was damon hill, but it's now some rally driver (no idea who).

Some people would claim that big brother is entertainment, it doesn't mean I have to agree with them.

The new one is too consistent for it to be too many different drivers, though there may be the occasional replacement.

I just can't see it being Russ Swift. He's busy with his own stuff and he's not the right build, and it's just not his thing - he's not a racing driver. He may have been winding your mate up. ;)

The reason I knew that the Noble was going really fast was because Richard Hammond was saying "Wow! look how fast that is" during commentary.

I could kill Clarkson and his little arsehole mates with a wheel brace and sit back down for my tea without blinking, maybe then we could see cars.

I made a call and it seems that the favourite for the current Stig is a combination of Julian Bailey with Ben Collins standing in depending on race commitments. Julian Bailey would fit the Stigs build nicely.

I could well believe Julian Bailey, though Ben Collins would seem a bit too big, but then I suppose they could have a Julian Bailey sized stand-in for some shots.

You couldn't tell the difference from outside the car or in the car from the back and they will no doubt have plenty of filler shots on file to piece together if Collins is standing in every now and again. I'm with you - Bailey seems to fit the bill.

Maybe so, but seeing Clarkson in a 911 GT3 RS stuffing Luca Badoa in a 360 CS was sublime :D

I think it's becoming (dumbing down if you prefer) a show that is gaining viewers rapidly, especially female ones. Mrs Tricky was telling me about how she and 5 girlfriends were talking about how funny the previous nights Top Gear was. That would never have happened in the previous era.

and that's not what it's supposed to be.
The BBC are supposed to produce quality programming that fills a particular niche, not try to make every program appeal the masses.
It's supposed to be about cars, and only petrol heads should like it.

Fifth Gear is well up there for the dullest program on TV. As you say it's the old Top Gear. The JC New Top Gear isn't for everyone but most episodes keep me amused for an hour even if JC has a pathological hate of Porches and an almost messianic love of Ferrari ;)

You can keep Hammond though.

The one on sky one though (I've blanked the name from my memory, somthing stupid like vroom vroom).
That is so bad it's not actually watchable, and topgear seems to be chasing it into the gutter of trash tv.

I hope next series they drop The Stig's in car entertainment while he put a car round the track. It was amusing once or twice but the language tapes are just irritating.
