I quite like to try unusual food. What's the weirdest item of food you've ever placed in your laughing tackle?

Steamed eagles chins, perhaps.

Loin of peacock?

Casserole of Tram driver's glove?

Tell me.

Once ordered calamaras in Lisbon expecting the usual fried squid legs and was surprised when presented with a plate of baby squid all about 3/4 inch in length. Tasty though.

Ostrich meat, tried it twice once in a burger (only tasted of onions) and the other was a steak....nothing special. The missis wont buy me a leg to try or an egg for my soldiers in the morning...lol

Love it.

Stuff Like -

Had roast termites (winged variety) in Ghana - nice - crunchy texture and pleasant nutty taste.

Indonesian "mystery meat" jerky which certainly contained dog - chewy, salty and dull.

Smoked Horse Meat from a Belgian Charcuterie. Delicious.

Moose, boiled for hours with spring onions and string beans. My national dish, and quite 'gamey'.

Carpaccio(sp?) finely sliced (raw) beef in a rocket and parmesan salad. Yum.

The most unusual foodstuff I have tried has got to be Ostrich Biltong - has the look and consistancy of a piece of old boot and the taste of ermmmm a piece of old boot! (Well assuming old boots taste of leather and salt!)

Wow deep fried mars bars are one of my favourite foods! I can't have them often though. Just sniffing one makes you gain ten pounds! :D

I once ordered a seafood pizza from a proper italian place, thinking it would just have prawns and tuna on it. Anyway the pizza was lovely - apart from the baby octopus stuck on top.

They looked like spiders with big rubber heads! Yech!! Not suprising that I had nightmares that night.

I also boiled some Periwinkles from a beach once. They were gross too but of course I was made to eat them becasue I'd killed them.

I'll never kill anything again!

I remember in Cafe Rouge one day when someone I knew ordered 'Fruits of the Sea' thinking it was fruit that fell in the sea and was pulled back out - very exotic sounding.... of course it was a huge plate of seafood with octopus etc with head on, eyes staring at her ! She had her Tuna Steak but I got the rest as she kept feeling stared at. Yum :P
