View Full Version : It's official: I'm a student again!
After many months of pondering I finally managed to make the decision to go back to college to do something I've been wanting to do for a long time: art and textiles.
I filled in the forms a little while ago and wrote the cheques for the fees on Friday! Despite feeling rather poorer than I was at the start of the week, I'm incredibly excited to be finally on track.
If anyone out there is considering making a change - go for it! If I can make the decision to embark on something new then anyone can :) .
Good on you Hecate! Now, the next step involves lots of White Lightning, some serious practice at sleeping in till mid-day and developing a fondness for crummy daytime t.v.
Seriously, I think it's a bold and brave step to take, but I'm sure it'll be productive and fruitful. All the best of luck - you'll enjoy it!
Ugh, students... All the same they are, always going out and getting drunk etc, taking up our car park spaces....
I don't mean any of the above, I'm just posting what a lot of people on here wrongly think of students.
Thanks Halibut. I have the sleeping bit down to a fine art already, but I reckon I can forego the White Lightning and the daytime TV :) .
Rich, I must admit to going out, getting drunk and taking up a car parking space before I was student. I'm sure I'll get much more practice now it's official though, at least in the former two.
Don't forget to plan your gap year...hmmm....Marrakesh?
Can we call you Student Grant now?
shoeshine 30-07-2006, 16:00 Good luck with the life changes, Hecate.
Who knows, with your training over you might even be appearing on daytime TV. :)

Shoeshine, I'm far too classy for daytime TV, as you should know. Look out for me on 'The South Bank Show' though :D .

Congratulations Hecate - I knew you had been thinking about it. Where are you going to be studying?
Thanks :) . I'm going to be at Leicester College, plus I'm doing some other part-time courses at Leicester Adult Education College. I'm keeping it pretty broad-based (art, textiles, pottery and jewellery) so I can narrow down my options in subsequent more specialised years. Expect to see photos of wobbly pots and dodgily-soldered silverwork, along with the usual knitted items :D .
