on the select user screen before windows loads up where you type your pasword in it says i have 12 unread messages. what are these messages??

If you have hotmail and MSN, it might be your email messages, mine does the same.

Hover over the message and it should say your email address.

It's a registry entry. To fix this, you can simply edit the entry. To do so, click
Start, then click Run and enter "regedit.exe" and click OK. Then
navigate to My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wind ows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\yourmsnname@h
otmail.com


Where your msn...@hotmail.com is the passport. Double-click the Message Count and enter 0 as
the value (this will set back to none). Then click OK, close the registry editor, and log
out.
