View Full Version : What's the best Bars/Clubs in sheffield.. Please
I'm a sheffielder but have lived in london for several years i do visits often but i'm out of touch with the night life and i'm bring three friends to show them our fantastic city, but where are the best bars and clubs to go, where all in our early thirties so nowhere too young and especially not rough or chavy.. sorry no offence meant re.. last remark. probably the newer more up market places.. any suggestions PLEASE..thanks
sophiec1979 30-07-2006, 09:30 for a touch of class, try the runaway girl on arundel street. they do great cocktails, fab decor and different djs/acts on almost every week.
then if you fancy a trip to a proper pub- hand pull local beers, a great beer garden and a game of pool- pop round the corner to the red lion on charles street.
have fun!

runaway girl used to be the one-eleven jazz club near howard street and they do have a website (google is your friend!) but there are a couple of threads on here where its had some good reviews. they also do really good food.

Its very near Hallam Uni - if you're walking down Howard st to the train station, turn right just after Alfi & Bella pizza/sandwich place and the Runaway Girl is on your left.
thanks jake, it's v close to where we are staying so that's cool. I also hear the St Paul's hotel bar is very cool anyone been there?? might be good for a pre-clubbing drink..
Kelliinlove 30-07-2006, 12:27 i would always say the Bankers Draft is a nice place for a drink to chill out, chilling music and not rowdy either.
Dewsnap06 30-07-2006, 13:00 Vodka revolution is rather classy just off west street at the top of devenshire green and also just down the road down from the walkabout is the Crystal lounge, both of these should suit you well. have a good night ladies!!
If you want nice pubs you want to try the other side of West Street, like the Wig & Pen and Cubannas. Both really nice, also Boho just up the road from Cubannas on Trippet Lane.
Vodka Rev, Bia Hoi, Crystal are probably the best ones I can think of. And probably runaway girl, I've never been because i never go much furthur than west st.
Bars:
Runaway Girl (Arundel St)
Takapuna (West St - bottom end)
Forum (Division St)
Halcyon (Division St)
boho (Campo Lane)
Cubana (Trippet Lane)
Wig and Pen (Campo Lane)
Tequila (West St)
Ivory (off West St)
Bar23 (West One plaza)
Common Room (above Forum)
Bar St Pauls at the MacDonald hotel (behind town hall)if great to start the night off
Clubs:
Plug
Gatecrasher1 (depending on night)
PinUp club (Fez - Fridays)
Niche (if you're into that style)
In my humble opinion.
Unisol thanks, thats quite a comprehensive guide thanks i will def try some them out, you've been v helpful.
If you also want food then stick to the campo lane/trippet lane area - Wig & Pen, Boho (expensive), Cubana....this is a great emmerging area, free of the brands.
This thread has been really useful to me too, as I have only been in Sheffield about a month. Thanks guys! So far my favourite bars are Revolution, the Common Room (if you like pool) and The Cavendish on West Street. For food, I would strongly recommend BB's Italian restaurant (on Division Street I think) and bistro at the Bristol Hotel. Fave clubs are Gatecrasher (something for everyone) and Leadmill (although maybe not classy enough for you Bboy! Lol). xxx
DelMonte 22-08-2006, 10:38 Hello BBoy :)
some good suggestions so far..I'd like to add that I think Cubana and The Runaway Girl are fantastic and might be just what your after as they're a welcome break from the chains and same same night spots that make up most of the City's venues. A great way of showing your friends something unique to Sheffield.
If its Saturday your out, may I have be so bold as to mention our night THE SHAKEDOWN at Bar Phoenix.....just down the hill from The Runaway Girl in the Steel Drums (The Hubs) 10-2.30am with a good crowd gettin down to funk/soul/hip hop and much more!......www.myspace.com/shakedownsheffield
BRINGITON 22-08-2006, 11:11 Can't really add much more, Runaway & Bar 23 are ace, the best in Sheff by far. Can't agree with Revolution tho, it's a just big chain and is therefore a bit of an obvious choice IMO, just done up nicer than the rest. Tequila is very underrated as a cocktail bar too, that's without being biased (being biased tho, it's ace on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the DJs great! :D )
I think maybe the reason why I like Revolution so much is because it's within walking (staggering) distance of my apartment!
I'm quite impressed with the bars/clubs in Sheffield, so far I've found it a really good place to go out. Only problem I have is that I moved here literally on my own so finding people to go out with is a bit difficult! So if anyone fancies showing me round please let me know! Especially girls, as it's not as easy to make new female friends and I'm really missing my laydeez from back home :-(
