View Full Version : Bus changes July 25 update
silverknight 25-06-2004, 22:17 Tonight i did some detective work on web sites and found where bus operaters have to register any changes. The site is www.vosa.gov.uk The following is what I have found out....
Sevices to be withdrawn the current 13/14,22,33/34,38/39,56,83,85/86,93,m29
The following will have route and or timetable changes...
7,8/9,31/32,41,53,75/76,81/82,97/97a
The following are new routes to replace some of the above
12= City to Ranmoor via Crosspool
13/14 = Woodhouse to Wisewood/Loxley via City
20 = Hillsborough to Hemsworth
22 = Nether Edge to Wybourn
33 = Hillsborough to Norton Lees via Southy Green
43 = City to Jordanthorpe
85 = Firth Park to Fulwood
87 = Ecclesfield to Eccleshall via Hillsborough
WTF?! The 83 is being withdrawn?!
As if bus services in Stannington aren't bad enough!
davidr01 26-06-2004, 15:10 on which part of the website did you find this information, need to see this for my own eyes
silverknight 26-06-2004, 15:52 Based on whats on the vosa web site I am guessing that service 83 will be replaced with 81/81a
If to view the document here is how I found it
Go to www.vosa.gov.uk
Click on HGV & PSV operators
Then click Local Service registration
Then Fixed Route Bus Services a Page comes up,then go to Q&A 22 in the answer click on Notices & Proceedings
A new page comes up,Click on N&P - Nortth Eastern Traffic Area
Then click on N&P 1917 - 25th June to view this weeks Document.
The information is on Pages 10/32/33/41/42/43
An Interesting Web site to moniter First in the future for all bus watchers!!!!
custardcream 26-06-2004, 15:56 from what i can gather from The Star the other night you'll still get to places that the withdrawn services did but the bus maybe numbered diffrently or is goin via another area......but what do i care i've got a car!!
MuteWitness 26-06-2004, 16:26 what about 38 its the only one that passes my house! are they going to remove the bus stops too? not much point without busses
noseyrosie 26-06-2004, 16:42 I'd like to know more about this new number 12 service....might be handy for getting to school?
silverknight 26-06-2004, 16:42 If you live on a route where a bus services is to be withdrawn The chances are one of the new routes will replace it or an existing service will be rerouted over certain sections. Until First publish full details we can only guess from the available information I have found.
Meh, the 81/81a will only serve the Upper Malin Bridge/Lower Stannington areas to make up for the loss of the 82 which primarily serves the Estates down there at the moment :loopy:
Fat lot of good that is for those of us who live in proper Stannington (further up fhan the Sportsman)
silverknight 26-06-2004, 18:33 For all those living in the Stannington Area Your revised bus service will be 81/81A/82 Stannington Nethergate To Bents Green Post Office
The SYPTE travel information centres today had a list of routes affected and sketchy details of what the changes were, although it was just a list for staff, so you can ask. No leaflets produced as yet.
Thanks for pointing out the vosa.gov.uk site - thats very useful to know about!

Well i'm starting my driving lessons again in sight of this, it's bad enough at the minute without them screwing it up again.
I belive First is an international group of super villains that are planning to take over the world by getting everyone to start driving because of the bad services and pollute the atmosphere.
Quick! someone call Captain Planet....Go Planet!!!!
somertswrong 27-06-2004, 11:56 no wonder people wont get out of there cars with all this messing about

And that's what the Government aren't seeing when they bleat on about how people should use public transport and leave the car at home for the good of the environment, to ease congestion and all that business, which in theory is all well and good but when bus companies make retarded decisions like this, is it any wonder people are still using their cars?!
The 81/81A/82 is showing a change of route as well as timetable, maybe one of those will go further into Stannington in place of the 83?

We already have a service that goes to to the top of Stannington, the problem has been the timetable. What they are doing is something that was tried a few years ago just with the 83. It served half of the 82 route from Deer park to Malin bridge and the 82 did Hall park head down Stannington road. Now it sounds like they are merging the two roots so there are fewer buses in all and a longer route.
Hooray for first which stands for
F***ers Intenet (on) Ruining Satisfactory Travel.
Hey not bad that, it only took 5 seconds to think of that:rolleyes: just shows how much I think of them;)
