Problem is i could get charged £15 per dvd if it gets lost!!! its in the T&C (BTW allways read the small print!)

Has any1 else had this prob??? I'm seriously thinking about cancelling my membership and going back to the local video shop :(

Im always sending things to my little girl in Sheffield and at least three times each year something gets stolen. Either the package arrives empty with a slit in it or it doesnt arrive at all.

We've had things go missing, money taken from birthday cards etc, Royal mail need to sort themselves out.

I use the Tesco service and have 'lost' 2 in the post when sending them back.

With Tesco, you report it, they then send you another DVD out and you have to send a form off. If you don't send the form off you get charged £20.

It is good as they do seem to treat you as though you are 'innocent until proven guilty'

With lovefilm, you just fill in a non received form and they send another, otherwise you'll get charged. As far as I remember.

Looks like i'm not the only 1 :o

If i dont co-operate with royal mails "investigation" then i get charged for the missing dvd

But the "investigation" could take upto 3 months!!!

I ordered some c.d's and they didn't arrive. Then a year later it was found that the postman had been storing the post at his house instead of delivering it. Some of the missing mail was delivered but not the c.d's. All I got was an apology from Royal Mail.

I signed up for a free trial of screenselect the other day, my first DVD was dispatched yesterday and came this morning (I'm watching it as I type)...

I'm going to cancel it before the trial runs out and send the DVD back, I don't trust the posties enough to use it long term.

I've been buying DVDs off Play for about 5 years now - having bought something like 200 off them over the years I've run into all sorts of difficulities and certainly up til about six months ago (the last time an order of mine got lost in the post) all I had to do was report it as having not turned up.

They ask you to wait two weeks from the date of shipping to be absolutely sure its not coming and if it doesn't they send out a replacement, no fuss and no bother. While having to wait two weeks is a bit of an arse I personally consider it a fair compromise and certainly beats the hell out of waiting three months!

Been using Screenslect for a couple of years now, and Lovefilm for a year before that. Only ever had 2 films in all that time not turn up, and both times was just sent the next one in my queue after I reported the problem to them.

Hmm, sounds like decent service at their end then, I'm just wary of regular use of something that involves heavy use of teh postal service, my stuff's gone "walkies" too many times whilst in their care.

Sad that the postie on the street is trusted so little, my late father was a postie (many years ago) and although I often walked his round with him, I wasn't allowed to post the mail for him, even though it would have speeded up his round! He walked up to every letter box or handed small packets to someone indoors. I remember the pride in delivering, wrongly and badly addressed items.

Not too long ago My ex line manager had a credit card account which had various “small” cash transactions over a period of time, the security people from CC company got involved and even tried to blame this guys young son for using the CC without consent! Royal Mail allegedly checked out who was delivering the mail on that particular round and said everything was 100%. A few months later two posties were arrested after empty envelopes and packets were discovered on waste ground.

I'm sure it is only a tiny percentage of rotten eggs in the barrel, I would like to think that 99.9% of postal workers wouldn't dream of removing items from the mail.

I've found the post very reliable. We were members of Lovefilm for about a year and have been with Screenselect for about 6 months. Only 1 disc went missing during that time.

One thing I do is to post my DVD's over the counter in the Post Office and get a proof of posting certificate stamped when I send them back.

What's people's experience of the rental services themselves?. We wern't too impressed with Lovefilm.....

I've just cancelled my lovefilm account today. They were fine until they merged with screenselect and now 2/3's of the time the DVD they claim to have sent me isn't the one that actually arrives in the post. So I gave up.

I am very happy with EASY's service i got the films i wanted without any probs untill now? Funny that its the same film that keeps on going missing

I tried lovefilm it was ok but i prefer easy! Amazon's only £4.99 a month might give it a go, 1st i'll see what happens about the missing DVD's.
