I can not get Windows Media Player 10 to recognize a widescreen formatted DVD, even a commercial release disk, not just DVDR media. I simply shows everything as a 4:3 squashed picture, and no amount of fiddling with the various options will change this at all. I cant even find a 16:9/4:3 switch in media Player 10 come to think of it....anyone know of this problem and if its just my machine or some issues (surely not...!!) with Windows software?

Ive had this problem and I just had to make do cos all the options were locked. I got round it by using PowerDVD instead!!

Dunno about WMP10 as I only have 9 here, but Tools > Options > Devices > Display > Properties brings up an aspect ratio adjustment option.

Failing that, get a copy of VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) (free) which has a much more obvious way to specify 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 etc.
