Does anyone remember a company on the site of the fletchers bakery site that has just burnt down
I think it made Twist drills
any old employees or anyone with any history

I think the firm you are referring to was called 'INTAL', short for International Twist Drill.

My Mum and I think either two or three of my aunties used to work at Intal in the fifties and sixties my Mus name is Nellie Newton

MY DAD WORKED THERE IN THE 60'S FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS, AFTER LEAVING RIDGWAYS ON MEADOW STREET.

MY MAM WORKED THERE AS WELL,,, SHE ALSO WORKED AT INTAL WHEN IT BECAME CLARKSONS.

DAD WAS A BUTT WELDER..............

My wife worked there in the mid 1960s, her name then was JOSE LOY or perhaps we were married then in which case her name is JOSE TURTON

There is now a later thread on INTAL, seeking info re both the factory at Claywheels Lane and the offices and warehouse the firm used to have at Watery Street, near Infirmary Road. There must be someone out there who can remember the old firm, including the Pickford Tool Company.

My mate Joe Turner worked there as well as some of the old Presto tools crowd.

I think my mum used to work there in 50s. She was a commptometer operator
I remember talking about it ! Her name is Margaret Wragg,maiden names Holmes
