And just finished ******* it down in the middle of town - had about a 15 min cloud-burst :o Though of course it will rain again as soon as I set foot outside the door!

Well, my gauges here (yes, im sad) are reading a steep incline in humidity and sharp drop in temperature, so a storm is looking likely

Thats the sattellite map, nothing so big near us but there is a concentration of heavy (thundery) rain over sheffield and SY

edit: lol, just confirmed my readings with the met office

Current readings for sheffield are:

83% Humidity
987mB pressure (thats low, and still falling)

What does 83% humidity mean? If it was 100% humidity, wouldn't that mean the air is 100% water vapour?

Yeah, I've never understood that humidity gauge either. If it's raining then surely it's 100% humidity?

I have an umbrella and don't care.

Its all to do with the temperature of air and the amount of "wetness" in it.

The equation to work it out is:

Humidity = vapour density / saturation of vapour (x 100)

The saturation point depends on the temperature and the resulting dew point.

Ive been in 100% humidity, and its not nice lol.

In crosby it's peeing down and wind is gusting up to gale force. on top of that it's cold. I hate winter, when's summer happening?

Edit, the wind is now so bad that sea water is hitting my bedroom window. It's not very pleasant at all really.

100% humidity means that the water retaining properties of the air are saturated and will hold no more moisture.

50% humidity means that the air is using up only 50% of its moisture retaining capabilities and so on.
