View Full Version : Is it just me or the weather? theflyingfish 23-06-2004, 12:26 has it just got really stormy and humid? I'm sitting here waiting or the sky to fall in! Jamie 23-06-2004, 12:42 ******* it down over here (at intake). evildrneil 23-06-2004, 12:43 And just finished ******* it down in the middle of town - had about a 15 min cloud-burst :o Though of course it will rain again as soon as I set foot outside the door! mimicraze 23-06-2004, 12:50 ******* it down here too lol, mind you not far from town, just wanted to participate really  SatanInHeels 23-06-2004, 12:52 pissin it down... only we have gotta get to our prom 2nite.. DRY!!! Sidla 23-06-2004, 12:52 I'm in Leicestershire and it's the same here. Moon Maiden 23-06-2004, 12:54 well I am in rotherham and currently despite being cloudy it is fine... may have to postpone me walk to the shops then? Moon RPG 23-06-2004, 12:55 Well, my gauges here (yes, im sad) are reading a steep incline in humidity and sharp drop in temperature, so a storm is looking likely Abdul 23-06-2004, 12:56 Originally posted by RPG ...so a storm is looking likely Great  I've got to walk across town, and me coat's at t'other building :( RPG 23-06-2004, 12:59 http://members.lycos.co.uk/arepeejee/weather230604.jpg Thats the sattellite map, nothing so big near us but there is a concentration of heavy (thundery) rain over sheffield and SY edit: lol, just confirmed my readings with the met office  Current readings for sheffield are: 83% Humidity 987mB pressure (thats low, and still falling) Sidla 23-06-2004, 13:15 What does 83% humidity mean? If it was 100% humidity, wouldn't that mean the air is 100% water vapour? Classic Rock 23-06-2004, 13:22 Yeah, I've never understood that humidity gauge either. If it's raining then surely it's 100% humidity? I have an umbrella and don't care. RPG 23-06-2004, 13:31 Its all to do with the temperature of air and the amount of "wetness" in it. The equation to work it out is: Humidity = vapour density / saturation of vapour (x 100) The saturation point depends on the temperature and the resulting dew point. Ive been in 100% humidity, and its not nice lol. Andy78 23-06-2004, 13:32 In crosby it's peeing down and wind is gusting up to gale force. on top of that it's cold. I hate winter, when's summer happening? Edit, the wind is now so bad that sea water is hitting my bedroom window. It's not very pleasant at all really. Sam Miguel 23-06-2004, 14:43 100% humidity means that the water retaining properties of the air are saturated and will hold no more moisture. 50% humidity means that the air is using up only 50% of its moisture retaining capabilities and so on. |
