Hi - I am hoping someone can help me track down this book which is a history of poor children in Sheffield - Fresh Air Group, Pearsons Schools and so on. I am interested in researching the history of local greenspaces around Stocksbridge and Deepcar and this book has references to Glen Howe Park, Wharncliffe Side.
Any help appreciated!

Thanks clarefl - I have tried a number of internet queries - quite a few sites quote the book but no-one tells me where to buy it from!
A few hits from SF came up as well but when I follow the link it is a dead end.
I found an address in Summer Lane, Totley (which is round the corner from where I live) but also a couple of fragments which have said she's moved on and no indication where.
I might go and knock on the door just in case..
If anyone is interested in learning more about the natural and industrial heritage of the Steel Valley area my project is setting up a few different events over the summer - keep an eye on Look Local!

Hi, I've a copy of the book I picked up for next to nothing on Ebay a few years ago when I was doing research on the Porter Valley. It has quite a bit of info about the children's home at Fulwood. I've no more use for it now so you're welcome to it if you can tell me a way of getting it to you? (I'm over at High Storrs. I'll PM my address if you want to collect it.)

Looks as though you may be sorted (:thumbsup:to Algy) I'll just add that there are several copies in the City Library system, according to the online catalogue.

Hi Beckelina

I found an address in Summer Lane, Totley
I was talking to Marjorie a week last Sunday at Chesterfield Family History Fair...she has now moved from Totley to Chesterfield. She has just published a follow up to Abe's Legacy which is based on the Sheffield Flood.
It looks like you are sorted now...
Regards

Tuppie
