My fish is dying :(

I noticed she was limp down one side and not moving this morning and immediately chucked her in some cold water, then cleaned out her tank and moved her back in with fresh, cold water.

I've put the tank in a cooler place than before but she's not perking up. She's still 'breathing' and trying to move around but a lot of the time she's just not moving and limp.

Is there anything else I can do? Or is it time for the long swim from the toilet bowl?

Thanks.

she's a shibunkin (sp?) ornamental cold water fish.

Try salt water.
Fill a bowl with water and add about 3 tablespoons of salt.
It might help.

try some ice cubes in the water she may be hot, and in this weather the ice will cool tanks and replenish the water thats evaporating.

The pet shops do and all round liquid medicine me Dad uses, its not expensive but, common in shabunkins (sp) is an off balance disease (sp) and it normally sorts his fish out

good luck x

Thanks guys,

Wanda died at about 5pm today. I didn't flush her away at the time as I was on my way out (and couldn't bring myself to do it!) but when I returned and looked at her at 10pm she was swimming around quite happily as though nothing had happened!

I'm going to look into it and read up on problems as some people on another forum have given me some ideas as to what it may have been and I think to save myself the scare again, I'll get a filter to ensure the right levels in the water!

Thanks guys,
Lottie
