Does anyone know where I can find a pub that sells perry? It's a bit like cider but made of pears apparently. I've been told it's good and I'm curious to try it but can't find it anywhere. Anybody got any ideas?

dose it have to be a pub/bar?
you could always try your local supermarket
or if its not too far to go, you could try the 'Dram Shop' off-licence on commonside, if its alchoholic then they should have it.

Thanks guys. I have actually tried the Dram Shop on Commonside and had no luck. I've had a look in Safeway and Somerfield too and they don't have it either.

I'll keep on looking though and if anyone knows a pub that sells it I'll be there in no time. Also, if anyone knows if it's actually nice I'd be glad to hear about it - I'm going on one recommendation from a friend of mine.

If anywhere sells Perry - the Fat Cat (Kelham island), or maybe the Devonshire Cat (town), are probably your best bet.

Devonshire Cat is probably your best bet, otherwise one of the following offer one cider or perry (case of dropping lucky) Sheaf View (Heeley), Cask & Cutler (Shalesmoor), New Barrack Tavern (Penistone Road), Fat Cat (Kelham Island).

Not many places sell Perry I'm afraid! Many that do only sell it for a short period in place of cider.

CAMRA beer festivals normally have a cider & Perry bar, the Derby one is on in July and the Sheffield one is end September/beginning of October. www.camra.org.uk

Cheers guys. Devonshire Cat was my first point of call but they don't sell it anymore (I'm told they used to). I'll carry on looking and check out some of the others you mentioned but I reckon this might be a fruitless task, chuckle chuckle.

Ho ho ho, yes so is Lambrini!

It's so completely different from the real thing in the same wasy that ****e Lightning is from real, non-fizzy apple orientated cider.

I was at the Sheffield CAMRA fest a couple of years ago and tried some Perry...it's alright, tastes a bit like sick...

Try the 'soup' ciders

LOL, that's the best recommendation I could possibly have asked for!

I think your best bet is a beer festival.

There's at least one big one in sheffield and one in rotherham every year, probably a lot more little ones.

Devvy Cat may have the odd one in occasionally.
