I'm a big fan of Bob Dylan so I went to watch him at the Fleadh Festival this Sunday at Finsbury Park
I have to admit that he was awful, his voice had gone, he rearranged all of his songs beyond recognition and he didn't play an instrument.
At least the Charletans were good.
Has anyone else either seen Dylan good or bad or been let down after hearing an artist they admire
P.S If you are a Dylan fan what is your favourite studio album, mine is probably Blood on the Tracks followed by Highway 61 revisited.
Keep on keeping on!

I'm guessing it's first time you've seen Dylan in concert? He's been doing this for going on 20 years. He rearranges the songs beyond recognition and sometimes it just doesn't work. On some shows he can be brilliant, so it tends to be hit and miss if you get him on a good night.
His voice is almost totally shot these days, I agree. Recently he's taken to playing piano instead of guitar or, as in the show at the weekend, no instrument at all.
I still go to see him for old times' sake, but he's pretty well lost it these days. Sometimes he'll pull a good show out of the hat, but I've seen him live around 20 times and nothing compares to the
1966 show at the Gaumont in Barker's Pool.
Favourite album? Blonde On Blonde of course.
Freewheelin' for sure. When the ships come in is a spectacular trick.
And I don't want to sound like a blasphemer, but Bob Dylan never had the best of voices anyway....

Highway 61 Revisited is the best album he's done I think. My father went to see him not long ago and he said he was sheet too.

bob's been great both times i've seen him (87 & 2000 i think - the last but one arena gig), re-arranges his songs to be almost unrecognisable, but often they work really well. and sometimes they dont.
blonde on blonde
blood on the tracks
highway 61
in that order, i think

I saw him last year and he was that bad i walked out, and i never do that. Favourite album: Blonde on Blonde, but most of his early work is outstanding.
Chris.

Yes, that is blasphemy, I'm afraid.
At his peak, Dylan had a simply fabulous voice. There is no dispute about that and it's not a matter of opinion, it's a fact.
What you mean is he may not have a great voice in the conventional sense. But it was absolutely perfect for his songs and with a very few exceptions no one sang them better than Dylan.
