View Full Version : Have we become a nation of walking billboards?
I think it will become more difficult to get a t-shirt without some company logo splatted on the front.
Are we becoming a walking advert?
I believe we are paying more for them to advertise on us.
PuressenceUK 22-06-2004, 11:09 Totally agree, more money than sense some people. The only advertising t-shirts I own have Guinness on them. Seems you only have to drink a pint of the stuff these days and you get a t-shirt. I must have about 8!

I filled in one of their marketing leaflets a few years back and now they send me cards at xmas and on my bday and various amusing little novelty items every couple of months.
I have yet to recieve a t-shirt, but I do have an Ulster Development rugby shirt with their logo on the front.
dylan_61 22-06-2004, 11:55 Did anyone see Broklyn Beckham holding a football sponsered by The Sun during the Croatia game.
5 years old and already adept at whoring himself to the media
Ned Ludd 22-06-2004, 13:09 I wonder how much Posh was paid for that little stunt? I noticed that little Brooks wasn't in view a few minutes later!
Has this woman no shame ? are there no limits to what she'll do to earn another buck? How cynical can this woman get?
I wonder if she knows how many people make up a starting eleven?

Good one Jim
I do agree though, we do seem to be doing companies' advertising department's work for them quite a bit :loopy:
Personally I never wear shirts with fancy logos as I'm not one for drawing attention to myself while out and about, I merely wear clothes that are comfy on me, who cares whether they're fashionable or not?! I know I don't.
Classic Rock 22-06-2004, 13:45 The Classic Rock Bar produces a T shirt which is sold for a fiver behind the bar. We've gone through about a thousand of them since we started producing them. People buy them because they enjoy the atmosphere in the pub, have a sense of identity with the bar and are regulars. They wear it with pride.
We buy the t shirts and sell them pretty much for what we paid for them, because, yes, they are a type of advertising, but rock fans like printed t shirts displaying names of things they admire. They also wear them as they are designer - not many outlets sell them and because they have the word 'Sheffield' on them. Say no more!
If anyone would like to buy a T shirt, send me a message or pop into the bar.

If someone offered me millions to get my kid to hold a ball saying "Sun" on it, I'd get him tattoed with it.
I wonder if I set up in business making designer clobber in the name of SADGIT or WANKA the chavs would start wearing it.
Maybe not, eh!!

Now now, don't forget that celebrities have 'very short careers' and have 'a right to make as much money as they are worth' (or summat). :nono:
And in the case of Victoria, her career is practically over anyway  :heyhey:
Interesting choice of newspaper though...The Sun, part of the Murdoch empire. Yes, Murdoch - part owner of Sky, who recently showed that program 'bout Becks and that piece of upper-class totty.
Actually Ned, you're right. There are no limits to what Victoria will do.
Victoria Beckham should have 'Toilet Duck' tattooed on her lips - that pout could unblock any toilet.
slimsid2000 23-06-2004, 14:47 Ironic isn't it. Clothes with famous logos on cost much more than those without and all the time it is free advertising for the company.

Buy this piece of mass-produced and over-priced trash with our logo splashed across the front!
Why?
Because it's a badge of your discerning good taste and a sign of your individuality.
Really?
Oh yes, everyone's buying them, 10 million people can't be wrong!
One comment: dog ****, 100 million flys can't be wrong...
Classic Rock 23-06-2004, 15:33 If you don't know the company and are only doing it because it's a fashion accessory then it's a bit like sheep following sheep.
People buy the CRB t shirts because they feel part of the pub or enjoy going there so want to promote it.
+++ Just found out we have another six month lease at least +++
Hoooray!!!

I doubt the underage workers in the sweat-shops feel the same way about Nike!
