Just heard on Sky Sports News that a 27 year old male English supporter was stabbed to death in the early hours of this morning by a Croatia fan.

It's such a shame, not only because of the needless taking of a life, but because it lowers the tone after what was a fantastic game of football with both sides playing with passion and commitment.

That's all I know - they only just announced it, I'm sure more details will come later.

Portuguese police have arrested a Croatian over the death of an England fan in Lisbon.
The Englishman is reported to have been stabbed in Rossio Square, Lisbon, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The Foreign Office was able to confirm a man had died but said no other details would be available until his family had been informed.

"We can confirm that a British national has been killed," the Foreign Office spokeswoman said.

Blades are for girls, that's a real shame. Giving someone a kicking is one thing but killing them is another.

it's funny how the whole world condemns england fans but yet we've now had 3 english fans stabbed to death over the last few years. People are soon quick to jump on the bandwagon and denounce our fans as thugs.

IMO these stabbings demonstrate, to a degree that England fans are often provoked and retaliate.
I also accept however, that we have the worst 'exported' hooligan problem - the litmus test will be when we go out of the competition

They are now saying the man arrested is Ukranian, and it's not Football related but a suspected robbery gone wrong.

The man was stabbed after chasing after a pickpocket who had just robbed him.
