well i'd rather stay here TBH, but alot of people are attracted away by so called "uni-life" which to be frank, living on the breadline in shared acc. isnt my idea of heaven

sheffield is a great city to live/study in, mainly because of all the services/venues we offer

Sheffield is...
A city with a community feel
Very friendly (certainly compared to the south)
Close enough to fabulous countryside to get out there in 5-10 minutes
A walkers and climbers mecca (due to above)
Historically interesting
Has a vibrant art and music community
Is split into lots of little 'villages' each with their own feel, instead of being one giant sprawl
Affordable
Pretty cosmopolitan due to the inpull of students, exchange students, etc.

Those are just some of the reasons we incomers stay. That, and the lovely men/women some of us fall in love with :D  .

It just feels like home.

Aw shucks Cosywolf...

That's the sweetest thing anybody has said about us

Quick question - who is this famous quote attributed to:

'Sheffield, Sheffield, Damned bad place, Sheffield'

Extra points for the year and context!

I have worked allover the place, but always kept my home in Sheffield.
I would never consider moving out of Sheffield, only to retire or getaway from it all.
There is no finer place, in the whole world.

Once a Sheffielder
Always a Sheffielder

Why do Ex pats come to this site?
Because they miss Sheffield :D

The best way to enjoy Sheffield is to move away from it! You certainly appreciate it more and hang around this site!

Lincoln is lovely.

It has, IMO, the finest Cathedral in the country. Just imagine when it had a spire that was as tall as the tower.

But, well, it's a bit sleepy isn't it?

I moved to Sheffield from a small-ish village in Derbyshire about 6 years ago now and I love it here. Though we were extremely lucky with the area we moved in to, since we knew nothing about good and bad areas of Sheffield.

My night club days are long gone so i suppose thats no reason why not to go to Lincoln, i,m more for the quieter life these days, country pubs and the countryside.
