Hey all, got some lovely coursework to do but i'm stuck for ideas on what to write about. I know there's some bright people on these forums so does anyone have any ideas that will be suitable for a lenghty discussion?
It must be contemporary UK and it can't be the traffic congestion charges!
Thanks all!
How about the political and economic consequence of water privitisation. Very topical at the moment with shortages, the massive price rises against company profits. Its also interesting to see a policy of privitisation coming back to bite the goverment. Their housing policy is being effected by water supply to new areas and they have no say over what is available. If has stayed private would the housing policy have been more joined up? a lot to think about but you could get a book out of this one alone.
That sir, is a very good topic. Thanks very much.

How about:
- UK pensions crisis and the economic impact of an aging population
- The alarming increase in average personal debt of the UK population and the ethics of the credit card companies and other lenders that fuel the problem
- How will the UK solve its future energy problems and curb carbon emissions? The nuclear versus renewable resources debate
All a bit dull I know but you should have no problem getting info about them for your coursework – good luck!

How about the problems of multi-national companies such as for instance a Swedish Steel Company who have no national ties and can move whenever they like. I believe there was a famous economist that warned against this, Galbraith? Do multi nationals undermine a governments business regulations etc.? What moral or legal pressures do these companies respond to if any? Examples are such as Shell in Nigeria. The chemical works disaster in India.
What will be or could be the long term effect of foreign companies taking over british ones.
For example a spanish co. buying BAA or a russian co. buying BG or Centrica. loss of London Stock Exchange to an american co.
Does it matter who owns a British company in a capitalist world?
Consider the effect of job transfer to the 3rd world, no jobs, no salary, no purchasing power, no jobs and round and round we go .
