if you go to the sorting office in pond street, (in the same building that houses the Penny Black pub) you will be able to get a PO box / po box number, i think

You can get an application form from any post office or I think you can also apply on-line at http://www.postoffice.co.uk

You have to live in Sheffield and it costs £53 a year.

What is the advantage of doing this?

I suppose it's mainly for business. I looked into getting one last year as i didn't want customers knowing my home address. I worked from home.

I'm not saying it's in all cases but I've always been suspicious of PO Box addresses as it's a simple option for rogue outfits. I prefer to know exactly where my documents/correspondence is going.

I would agree with you. If it is for personal use or business that didn't really require it then I would question someones motives.

I believe the Post Office will tell you the address to which a PO Box is being directed. Could be wrong tho'

Yeah, how do you know that your documents aren't just going to vanish into some guy's "pigeonhole" and get forgotten about?!

We use a P.O Box number for work. Has a mailing and fulfilment company we find it easier to use for return addresses. Saves postman pat delivering 500 return mailings a day.

Theres a very small post office collection point just off Attercliffe Road. Just pop in give your P.O Box number or collection number and collect your mail.
