Following the recent local elections I’m delighted to be remaining in the hot seat as Leader of Sheffield City Council.
Over the last two years we have worked very hard to create a clean, green and safe city and to close the gap between the city’s most deprived areas and the more affluent. It is the work you do each day which implements these policies and I thank you for all your hard work.
We have just fought, and won, the election on a Manifesto committed to continuing with these policies, creating a city in which we can all feel proud.
Our ambition is that all neighbourhoods in Sheffield will be successful. This means that there will be nowhere where people don't want to live. Everyone who works for the Council plays a part in achieving this.
The Deputy Leader, Cllr. Steve Jones, and I are going to take a ‘hands on’ approach to tackle some of the problems this city faces, but principally that of anti-social behaviour. We’ll continue to work closely with the Police and other organisations to take action against those who make life a misery for Sheffield people.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions, comments or suggestions about how we might make a difference to the city and to the Council. And once again, thank you.
I know that many staff do not have access to email and would be grateful if you pass on this message on.
