I am needing to obtain a few horseshoes for art/design projects, and have so far tried pretty every junk shop in Sheffield, and cannot find any. Are there perhaps any blacksmiths in Sheffield or Rotherham area (Not too far outside town if possible) which might have any. Worn horseshoes would be preferred, but new one would be OK if no old ones can be got.
Please note: I haven't tried any of the more upmarket 'antique' type shops which might sell cleaned up or painted horseshoes as ornaments, as the whole idea is for me to get hold of the 'raw article' itself, and to paint/clean them up as part of my designs.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Look up farriers in Yellow Pages - if you are prepared to go to them they will have loads although they might charge you as they are 'recyclable'. Don't expect to find them near the town centre though!!!
If none in yellow pages just google 'farriers' and you will get to their trade directory which will give you local contacts.

Thanks, 'Chuckus...'

But which part of town is Ridgeway in? is it the name of the road where Craft Centre is? I'd rather not have to travel miles out of town to riding-schools and the like.

Thanks.

Ridgeway is where the craft centre is. Probably about 20-30 minutes from town by car - more with public transport, if the 252 still runs. If not then I don't know a bus that goes there.

Have you ever ring up any rideing schools or stables. I know my nan once got a pair for her home as she was superstitious to bring her home luck, from a stables on barnsley road just down from sheffield lane top that is still there. Maybe some of them will have a old pair if not a new pair for you to buy or point you in the right direction. I found this link that has numbers in rotherham and sheffield that maybe could help. it also has the name stabel for the one im on about too.
