I'm not afraid to admit I'm an unashamed fan of the Big Brother and, for a while, there has been rumours of who the celeb will be that goes into the non celeb version.

For ages my money has been on Tom Meighan from Kasabian but Davina piddled on that bonfire this morning by saying the end date is 18th August - Kasabian have a gig in Dublin on August 17th, followed by V festival.

So,
1) Who do you think will go in?

Just received an Email telling me all about BB7 which is set to Launch 18 May 2006...

I am a fan of BB but last years was a nightmare not sure i will be watching this years or not... shall have to wait and see what the house mates are like... altho sometimes it gets so stupid you cant help yaself from watching...

o great! just what we need. another boring reality tv show with some of the worlds most attention seeking people in it.

I do admit that in the early days i did watch a little bit of it, but i stopped watching it about 3 series ago and i dont even remember the last one.

All i can say is that i pray that this is the last series as it's just getting silly now.

I can't remember who suggested it but they should run the whole series with all the numpties in the house but not have any of it on TV or even film it. They could just make up the results and evict people at random, they would all come out expecting a big crowd and to be famous, just to be told to go get a bloody job having just wasted weeks of their lives.

hmmmmmm....18 May is at least a week earlier than the usual start (usually the last Friday in May), and also it's a Thursday.

Also, E4 usually start showing the audition tapes about two weeks's before the start of BB, but when I checked the programme guide on Sky for E4 for the next week, there's no sign of that.

A friend of mine has arranged her work shifts and holidays around what she thinks the dates are for BB7, and she'll really disappointed if she misses the first night.

So this is going to be on while the world cup is on? Great scheduling. I know what I will be watching.

Hehe BB just makes me think of Summer so I am happy is on its way! You usually have a fair selection of nutters on it which can make for funny viewing at times. Trying to think of the wierdest contestant is a hard choice...

The problem is that the people who go on it now see the whole thing as a promotion, they don't act "themselves" so it's painfull to watch, the fist one was good as the contestants had no idea what was going on but now it's all so contrived and calculated with everyone trying to be "outrageous" but not so outrageous that they can't get a job at the end of it.

And, I hate Devina "no actual tallent" McColl with a passion.

My favourite BB was 3; because I loved Spencer. It's just got gradually worse though, I watched the first episode (for want of a better word) to the last series and took an instant dislike to all the housemates so didn't watch anymore really.

All you need to do to get in is hate something; then they'll find it and put you in a house with it :D

I'm not saying people with Tourette's are stupid - it has nothing to do with the level of intelligence a person has.

I don't trust BB though - you just know they will be manipulating this person for ratings; they will try deliberately to set this person up by creating'situations' in the House that the Tourette's person will react to. (You can bet the producers will have questioned him/her very intensely to discover just what the hot buttons are that will set that person off.) That is NOT the same as them going about their everyday life.

Total, scandalous manipulation and exploitation. Horrible.

What has become of most of the previous big brother contestants?
Most of them seem to melt into obscurity within a few months after all the hype has warn off.
Unless some follow the big brother script and become an item and fleece as much cash in as they can before splitting up.
Or there is the other alternative and get boob jobs so they can carve out a career by flashing their "thrup'ney bits"off.

I love Big Brother but I always find the final 4 weeks better viewing than the early weeks - the main reason is when there is too many housemates they're always loud and you cannot follow the conversation coz everyones always talking at the same time!!

I think it's about time this trash TV ended so we were free from brain-dead "celebrities", such as Jade Goody, finding fame and fortune for nothing other than showing how stupid, ignorant, vulgar and grotesque they really are.

Celebrities should be people with talent, people to... celebrate. Talented musicians, artists, actors, etc. What kind of country do we live in where the celebrity culture suggests that children should aspire to being like people such as Jade Goody?

Are the housemates that have been in several newspapers actually the ones that are going in though?

Last year the newspapers were outwitted as they predicted the wrong people!

If I remember rightly, last year the News of the World published who they thought were going to be housemates, but had been given completely false info by someone at BB. There's no reason to believe that it's any different this year.

From what I can fathom out from what's happened in previous years, and from what Davina has said in interviews, it isn't only the 13 (of whatever number) housemates who go into seclusion about two weeks' before the start of BB, but there are several more, and nobody, except the chosen few at Endemol, actually knows who the actual housemates are going to be until just before the start of the Channel 4 show.

In the Heat mag they did name a few of the people who was going into the house in last tuesdays mag of who they were, If this was true i dont know but i know they have a BB following with Dermot Heat page every week wile BB is on air so that also made me think it may be true, but they was no pictures of the people tho, im trying to find it now to say who is in the house of the people names and see if on the day if it is true what Heat say, but at the moment my copy done a runner, more then likely it has ran to my sister house. But soon as i can find it or if anyone els has a copy thenplease add then we can tell if pokie pies have been told.

To be honest I would have agreed with you but then I thought, last year you might have said the same thing if they'd told you a transexual was going to be on it - 'they'll just be ridiculed and everyone will be bigots about it' - but then she ended up winning the hearts of the nation and indeed the entire series.

So if this person with tourettes is really warm and funny and quirky it might become a really positive thing, a way to highlight the condition and make it easier for young people with tourettes because they can say 'look, I'm just like that person'?

It is a thought, and it would be nice to think that's what the person would be like, and that they would portray a positive image, and endear themselves to the nation, and be a huge success, for themselves and for others suffering from Tourette's.

That would be great if it happened, but it's taking a huge risk with someone's psyche - someone who in any case has difficulties in that area.

BB don't care about the mental health, either now or in the future, of any of their contestants. All they care about is sensationalist headlines, and if people get hurt in the process, then tough. It's not their problem, is it?.....

I have to admit to being a BB fan. I am also the mother of an 9 year old boy with Tourette Syndrome. I run a TS forum and we have been discussing the posibility of a TS contestant. The rumour has been around for the last couple of series' but so far has proved unfounded. I have mixed feelings about it. The guy obviously understands what the programme is about and knows the kind of twisted hype that goes with it. It is his choice to apply and I think "good on him". Just because he has TS, doesn't mean he should hide away.

The problem I do have is how the media will portray him should he become a housemate. TS is always portrayed in the media as 'the swearing disease' where sufferers ( I hate that word :mad: ) shout out obscenities. It is a very small percentage of people who have coprolalia (vocalising socially unacceptable words) My son has never done this. He has both motor and vocal tics but doesn't swear. Should the media jump on the 'swearing bandwagon' I will be the first to complain. Otherwise, I wish him luck!

Not long now before the reality tv Show is on our screens once again!

And Jade was hilarious and it wasnt really in the look at me way they have now as the previous 2 series' contestants didnt really end up in much sucess when BB finished. Shabaz seems to regard all the males in the house as fair game....he can't leave them alone, and I have to say that, if a woman was touching me in the way he keeps touching and mauling the men in the house, I'd feel extremely uncomfortable, and I'd probably have to have the same conversation with that person as Glyn did.

Shabaz just doesn't seem to know how to behave, and he's like a petulant child when he's told to stop.

He has issues with Sezar, and I think they stem from the fact that Sezar rejected him immediately on the first night. Richard did as well, and there was conflict there, but Richard has tried to give sound advice, although Shabaz doesn't seem to want to be advised.

As regards Glyn, I wouldn't want an overbearing predatory man touching me up all the time and invading my space. No-one should have to feel harrassed, no matter what their sexuality. I think Shabazz is representing his race and religion well. It said he was a muslim when he went in and he's not been seen praying once? His antics in the house as the self conferssed 'paki-poofter' is not exactly the image I'm sure many of his creed would seek to promote. According to the papers this morning, Shabaz was ordered to see the psychologist last night, and was put on suicide watch, because he threatened to kill himself on live tv.....I know C4 have to take it seriously, just in case, but this is Shabaz who's made this threat, and it's probably only an attention-seeking ploy. If C4 are so worried, they should pull him out now. However, I don't think it will be him who will be attempting suicide, but the rest of the housemates because Shabaz has driven them to it.:loopy:

Late last night, I was watching the live feed, and all of a sudden Shabaz nearly had a seizure because one of the things removed from the shopping list was herbs, fgs. Unfortunately, the sound was dipped (which seems to be most of the time when the subject is Shabaz), so I never actually heard what all the fuss was about.

The BB producers have GOT to do something about Shabaz, and do it several days ago :rolleyes: The poor man is obviously mentally ill, with a truckload of emotional problems. He is not a properly-functioning person, and BB was been completely irresponsible (again) in putting someone like him in there.

It's been obvious for days he's not quite right - it's just appalling to leave him in there, having his psyche further damaged by having the others gang up on him, and to have him so humiliate himself on national tv. It's wrong, and I hope some watchdog body goes to town on BB.

Not that I'm criticising the other housemates - it must be hell for them in there. Especially for the young ones who probably don't have a clue what's going on with Shebaz. Why should these people have to be the forced councillors of a man who is clearly so ill? They have no training, no experience.

Some of the older ones - certainly Dawn and Pete (not old I know!) are obviously aware something is very wrong, and they're doing their best - but it's not a normal situation.

I don't know what the immediate answer is - but that poor man needs a GREAT deal of serious counselling.

I've stopped watching it now - I just can't bear it.

I'm really frightened for that man, this has gone WAY too far. And it's getting to the point where it could start having a traumatic effect on the other housemates, especially the young 'uns, and it's so not fair on them.

Please, Channel 4, step in and do something, before something awful happens. He needs to be taken out NOW and examined by a psychiatrist, for his own good.
