Message from Bob Kerslake to Council Staff:
"Sheffield will be hosting a high profile visit of VIP's on 5th July 2004, which will be very positive for the whole City. The visit will give a view of Sheffield to representatives of other European Cities and is likely to attract significant media coverage.
The visit will be centered in and around the Town Hall, but may include other venues depending upon the precise time available.
As I'm sure you will recognise a visit of this scale will inevitably impact on normal operations and services. In particular this will affect the Town Hall which will be closed to public business until approx. 3.00 pm on 5th July 2004. Obviously the Town Hall building will have to remain 'operational' throughout the day but as service provision will be affected, outlined below are the main areas affected, which I would ask all managers and staff to be aware of and make alternative arrangements where appropriate.
Only Council Staff and Elected Members will be allowed into the Town Hall building on 5th July. No public access will be available for enquiries or meetings.
Access into and out of the Town Hall between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm will be via the Porters Lodge entrance off Norfolk Street. The main entrance on Pinstone Street will not be available through these times, except in emergency evacuation situations.
All staff and elected members should wear ID badges or show their passes to get into the town Hall."
Wonder who it is.....sounds important!
