Hello. I am moving to Sheffield from the US and I might be renting a house on Spooner Rd in Broomhill I believe. Can you give me information about this area. How close it is to shops, bus, train, etc? How kid friendly is the area? I have two children, 1 and 4. Also, do you know of any preschools nearby. We will not have a car.

Thanks so much for any help!!

Its right in the middle of Broomhill so extrememly close to all the shops.
Couple of miles from the train/bus station but it is on the 52 bus route which is very regular but can take some time during rush hour.
I don't know about preshool but my neighbour used to take their son to a pre-school there so there can't be one far away.
I can't say Broomhill is particularly kid friendly - it's very student orientated.
There's a good park in Crookes called Bole Hills - it's uphill from Broomhill but you could hop on the 52 and it'll take you there. There are plenty of other parks too but most would be a bus ride away. Botanical Gardens are fairly close I suppose.

As for not having a car.... just as well because you wouldn't have anywhere to park it anyway. Not of Spooner road at least.

it is a big student area, but lots of families live here too. we have just moved to broomhill and find it very convineient for getting into the town centre and local shops. As for parks, western and crookesmoor parks are within walking distance :) There is a nursery (pre-school) on clarkehouse road (I can't remember the name but will post it when I next walk past!)
