It'll probably taste better than Guinness, bearing in mind the "black stuff" is mass-produced and loaded with chemicals. At least with homebrew you've got some control as to what goes in it.
However, if it does taste horrible, serve it with half a glass of ice and your tongue will be so numb you won't be able to taste it but you'll still be able to get p*ssed. Well, it worked for Magners, Guinness Extra Cold, etc....
Home brew stout can be extremely dodgy if you let bacteria in.
On the other hand, hoe brew apple schnapps 'has a bit of a kick'

Use a dark sugar (I always used a mix of dark muscovado and demerara) to ferment alongside maize sugar when doing your stout. It'll give it a richer flavour, and takes away some of that 'tang' you can get with homebrew.
Maize sugar is about the same price as granulated and you can get it from Brewmart at Hellsbore or Abbey Lane.
Are they the Prohibition, or Contessa kits you got for the liqueurs? Or a different brand? I'd be careful if you're a newbie with them. You REALLY have to do everything DEAD to the letter, or they don't work .....
Good luck  :) ....... now where's my home made medium dry white gone ;)
thankyou for that everyone, ill deff try it with the dark sugar. its the contessa one ive ordered if it goes well i will be ordering the guinness style one to and no doubt lots of the others

As a lover of Guinness, I tried the homebrew stout once. What a disaster! Tasted like a mixture of tar and bad farts! Got me very drunk though very quickly....so wasn't all bad.
Back in the day (when I were younger) me and a housemate tried practically everything homebrew. He created a cider that was legendary (it didn't just ferment...it evolved into a whole new lifeform! We had fears of it forming a totalitarian state and banishing us from the house!!). I made a few spirits which tasted nothing like they should, but were strong enough that you didn't really care. Ah, those were the days!
:hihi: :hihi: ooo beakerzoid i hope mine doesnt taste like tar and bad farts, or at least if it does i hope its strong enuff to get me bladdered on the first pint cos i dont think i could stomach actually being aware of it for 2 pints.
im going to get some yeast and have a go at making my own mead, ive got a nice recipe for some but it takes 6 months :(
With these kits always put more sugar in that it says, that way you end up with it far stronger.
After a couple of pints you cant get out of the chair :D
Thats why I stopped making it... hic :hihi:
