I have been many times but have not been for about 5 years.
My Daughter went yesterday and The Misile and the log flumes had gone.
They were the major rides there and now there is hardly anything there.
I certainly would not pay £12 enterance fee if the big rides no longer exist.
Are they slowly closing it down or what.

I was disappointed when we went in late Spring.

As you say - not worth the entry fee.

It had changed it's target market to the under 12 age group.

This is probably because it cannot compete with alton towers anymore.

That's why there arn't any big rides there anymore.

Wow well that log flume must have been almost 20 years old I used to go there as a small kid! I remember when they built the missile, that must have been getting on for 15 or so. I would imagine they have a finite life before maintenance becomes too big an issue.

It's a shame it used to be a great theme park.

Surely a true "American" theme park should consist of fat, ignorant people wandering around stuffing their faces with burgers, talking loudly and firing guns off at random?

It was great years ago but it seemed to start going tatty and downhill. If they've got rid of the missile and huge log flume what's left?
Not been for years and doubt I will be again.

Anyone remeber 'Britannia Park' that was there before it? Sounds like its going the same way as that.

The corkscrew at alton towers was built in 1980, 26 years on it seems to be running fine.

Always thought American Adventure was meant for the younger end of the market anyway - under 12's

I have also been to the ones in Florida and enjoyed it very much because it made me feel slim.

It's a shame that the Amercan adventure struggled as aa a theme park. I doubt we will bother again. Mind you they usually have great fireworks for halloween, so may go for that.

I can relate to the comment made about feeling slim in Florida. We visited Blizzard beach, and I was able to put on my swimsuit for the 1st time in 12yrs, without feeling embarrassed:)

American Adventure? Well, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Never mind Basil, keep your sense of superiority, it aint worth nuthin'. We've got your money.

Keep on crossing the Atlantic to visit Disney World/Disneyland/California Adventure etc. because there's no place like them in the UK.

Is anyone here old enough to remember the "theme park" and zoo at bellvue. I have vague memories of my dad who was a bus conductor at the time taking me on his bus. The bus had to wait a while before making the return journey so he used to take me for a look around.

Do you mean the six flags in southern California in the valley? This summer, my daughter visited six flags over Texas in Fort Worth, and said it was basically the same as the one in California. I think there's one in Georgia, but I'm not sure. Where was the one you visited?

There's a Six Flags in Connecticut but they don't allow Brits in:hihi:

can't understand why as the Yanks just love to see the British dole money spent over here!
