I have a question, I have recieved some old medicine bottles late 1800's to early 1900's. The bottles are labled Turipol and the other is Tinct Gallar does anyone know the full names and what they are used for. I have tried search engines, Dictionaries, latin etc but no mention of them. Hoping some old chemist out there recognice the names.

Instead of putting Tinct Gallar into the search engine try Tincture of gallar.
Could be an abbreviation.

Thanks tried that yep its an abbreviation but for what, that is the question. Btw any volunteers to try it and see if its pioson are not.lol
According to this site (http://cb3vitamins.com/blog/?p=30) Turipol is a synonym for the vitamin (supplement?) Beta-Carotene.
I wonder if the second one could be the Tincture of Gall on this Vegetable_Astringents (http://www.herbdatanz.com/Vegetable_Astringents.htm) site ?!
