I was reminiscing the other day about my childhood/teenage years in Eckington, and I remember having a holiday job at a canning factory on Littlemoor Eckington, but I don't really remember that much about it, I used to get two shillings per box of strawberries I hulled.
Does anyone else have memories of this place.

Hi Mandem,I spent most of my childhood in Eckington and know the canning factory very well,on a Saturday morning we used to go down there and collect bent tins of rejected fruit,happy memories of those times.

My mum worked there in the 50's. She said she had to catch the hot cans as they came off the line and pack them. All the women used to wear white smocks and turbans. It's where LinCan peas were canned.
