I have recently left a house with a large pond with a mixture of carp, orfe goldfish and shubunkins in it.I went back to get some possessions and all the carp had gone.I asked my ex if she had sold them or given them away and she said no.Then one of my friends who lives nearby said that all his carp had gone!!We have now found out that foxes are to blame, both ponds were heron proof by the way.
I wonder if anybody else has had this problem? It would appear that during the night when plants are putting out carbon dioxide and the fish come to the surface. The foxes then scoop them out and take them away!!

Nice tactic by the foxes. Sorry bout your loss...but the circle of life and all that. Hope you're not thinking bout destroying the foxes.

Im interested to know how you know its foxes, rather than say Pikeys :hihi: . Particularly if its just the carp, as its not uncommon for folk to steal ornamental goldfish.

The fountain in my pond was more than enough to stop cats and foxes from eating the fish.
Doesnt stop thieves though..

sounds like some scroaty little Ned's had 'em away, not a fox...foxes will go for the easy stuff first, bins and wast from takeaways etc, not catching fish at night...
Also, unless the fish were *VERY* tame they would spook away from predators, yes/no...?
