What's the bestest ice cream flavour/ice lolly there is? Seeing as it's summer and all....

1) Cookies and cream from the stand on Whitby pier next to the fortune teller

2)Twister

3)White magnum....or those nice ones with nuts in that they stopped making :(

4)Tropical Solero

5)Mini Milks!

Bradwells' Ice Cream is bloody bootiful! They sell it at the fruit shop up in Stannington village... I've been past the place where it's made as well, in the Derbyshire village of Bradwell itself.

White Magnum is the best "commercial" icecream, cant beat a bit of Cornish ice-cream from cornwall (obviously) and Ben and Jerry's Phish Food is the best from the supermarket

I love Orange Maids, Fabs and those ice creams that you used to get with a pack of wafers at the cinema - reminds me of going there when my dad was still alive when I was a kid...

There is a cool site here with most of the ice creams made by Lyons over the period 1930 - 1987. May stir up childhood memories for others :P

Ben and Jerry's Choc fudge brownie ice cream is fab though

Oh and as for Birds Eye Artic Roll - heaven in a bowl !!!

Ice cream is sold in the small car park overlooking Mosal Dale and Upper Dale. I think it is Fredericks Ice Cream but not 100% certain.

thorntons do a banana ice cream. you can get it from a couple of their city centre shops.

my favourite was Taggy's ice cream, (taggy's were based near Anns's Road/ Richards Road area, at Heeley)

that ice-cream was yellow, and thick, and creamy, it was delicious. much better than the thin, white, anaemic looking whippy stuff.

My late mother would eat no other ice cream.

It is too many years since I saw a "taggy's" van. after the heeley area went through the demolition in the 70's, their depot was demolished, and they didn't seem to start up again.

Asda used to do a custard flavour ice-cream that was divine - really sweet and creamy, even if it was so bright it resembled toxic waste! Not seen it for years though...

1. Fab.
2. Lemonade lolly.
3. Ben and Gerrys (cookie dough OR chocolate fudge flavour. I'm not fussy, just as long as I have the whole tub to myself).
4. Sorbet - elderflower or lemon or something more exotic like mango.

OH i remember taggy's ( we are showing our age now ) my mum used to send me out to the van on a sunday afternoon with a glass bowl and we'd have it after tea , it was the most delicious ice cream i've ever tasted

I tend to judge an ice cream maker on the quality of their vanilla. They can make all the glorious mixtures and flavours under the sun but if they cannot get vanilla right then their others are likely to be substandard.

Homemade is best.
I did try some of that ourcowmolly stuff but it was rank.
Far too sickly and not a very nice taste to it.
The best icevream ive ever had tho was Taggys.
