Last hot summer I remember was 2003. I loved that year. :D Once the hay fever of June is out the way it's time to have fun in the sun.
czechroman 18-07-2006, 18:16 yeh 2003 was hot too, but 1995 is 1 inparticular that sticks in my mind of the last decade:cool:

1995 was nothing, when compared to the summer of '76:D.
We were walking on the (dried) bed of Ladybower Reservoir (totally empty).
Nothing's come close since:).
Oh... We had a plague of ladybirds too in '76:thumbsup:.
I hate it cause I've got Viking blood and love the cold, and I grew up near the sea so I've still never got used to Sheffield's 'continental' weather.
My fave weather is cold and sunny or thunderstorms. Or hot weather when Im by the sea and it feels more normal and civilised. ;)
'94 was funny. I had the one boiling week for my holiday and the day I came back it hailed lumps of ice and was wet all summer after that.
Ivor&Mel 18-07-2006, 18:47 Anyone know what the temperature has actually been in town today?
Anyone know what the temperature has actually been in town today?
In the words of Roosevelt E. Roosevelt ("Good Morning Vietnam"):
"Weather out there today is hot and ****ty (http://161.58.5.90/vietnam/weather.wav)"
czechroman 18-07-2006, 19:20 that thermometer near the round about said 15 oc when it was snowing!:o , so taking notice of that is not that accurate, 34 it said:D

is it going to start getting cooler after tomorrow?
Don't know.
But it is certainly cooler this evening than it was yesterday.

Urgh the 90's sucked badly, fashion and music died.
The decade before now thats a decade to cherish.

The summers were a bit crap though (for the most part):).
SpeedwayDan 18-07-2006, 19:54 scorching so far, but a bit too hot for working in, especially when you have to catch buses. but thats my fault for not getting my backside into gear and learning to drive:hihi:
yeah and high pressure weather systems are more stable due to the slowly falling warm air, which means they last for much longer than depressions. More to come people! :P

czechroman 19-07-2006, 13:10 And yet again a scorcher of a day, wonder what the temeprature is today, mine said 43 on our back yard yesterday!:o in the full sun, couple of degrees off saudi arabias 45, how do they cope in this all the time!, they say that records are going to be smashed so its got to be better than 1995 or 1976!:hihi:

I don't think it's all that hot today. There's quite a breeze blowing at times:thumbsup:

'76 wasn't particularly hot. Problem was, the '76 there was a distinct lack of rainfall:).
For instance the total rainfall at Kew in London from the beginning of October 1975 to the end of August 1976 was just 235mm or 43% of the long term average. No rain fell in parts of Cornwall during April. June was rainless in some districts of Devon and Kent and so were some places in North Wales during August.
The real heat set in on the 23rd June and for 14 consecutive days the temperature topped 32°C at a number of places in southern England.
