The work is part of the normal Principal Route Network maintenance and will involve renewal of all the carriageway, roadside footways, installing new and renewing drains and some renewal and positioning of lighting columns. There are also two widening schemes along this section of road. The first is from the outbound bus stop at Knowle Lane to approximately 90 metres past Dobcroft Road / Harley Road, for a new inbound bus lane, this will require incursion into the outbound and inbound verges to varying degrees. The other is a realignment of Bents Road at its junction with Ecclesall Road South to facilitate movement of left turning traffic.
