This morning one of the lads who works for me missed his bus,he lives in rotherham his next bus wasn't for another hour,i couldn't hang around for him so he's lost a days pay, thing is he actually ran for the bus and got to the doors but the p***k of a driver glanced at him gave a sly grin and drove off, fortunatley i don't bother with buses these days never have the need to thank god but over the years ive seen this done many many times.i wish the mainline drivers would hire my function room for their christmas party then i could take great pleasure in blanking the ***kers all night long.

You couldn't hang around for him so he lost a day's pay for being an hour late? And you're criticising bus drivers? :loopy:

Be fair Max.. if a bus driver deliberately drives off seeing someone actually at his doors at a stop and he's stationary... that's hardly what you call employee of the month is it...

once the driver has closed the doors, then he is not supposed to open them again. If he is already commited to pulling into traffic,he cannot stop and start for anyone who got out of bed late.
Plus kirky, dont you think your worker might be over egging the pudding a little in his tale as to why he was late?It does sound a bit better if he tells you the driver saw him.My guess is that he saw the bus pulling away from the stop just has he got round the corner.

Well just to put a turn on things I've not actually been stood at bus stops sometimes and stuck my arm out and they've pulled up at stops and waited for me to run to the stop. So not all of them are '****ers' as you put it.

I see this happen nearly everyday especialy on Eccelsall Rd....Forget about committed to pullin out etc. The drivers do what ever takes there fancy at the time.what about when there's no bus stop or they are stood at lights and let people on thats not allowed but they still do it.

If we are going to hire a function room for our christmas party it certainly would not be Bar 101. How tacky that you play load music in the afternoon(Sheffield isnt Ibiza)so loud infact that you can hear it at T J's.
Being a manager you should know better than to slag off potential customers.GROW UP

How much do bus drivers get paid ? I'll bet it's a derisory amount compared with the responsibility they carry and the stick they have to take.

The job will be somewhere near the top of the stress index too

They get paid a rubbish wage and the crap they have to put up with is unbelievable.

Some bus drivers are grumpy some aren't. Some bar workers are grumpy some aren't. You find grumpy workers everywhere not just driving buses.

Hmm. Bus services are crap I must admit. But that isn't suprising really. Last month the company lost 40 odd drivers and recruited only 8 or 10 or something. The whole bus system is going to pot because of it.
And yep it is true that once you have left the stop the driver isn't supposed to allow people on the bus. Its all the red tape.

Plus in the paper the other day some bus driver had worked for First Bus for years and had to have some time off of work because he had cancer. The company sacked the guy for having cancer!
However the guy later took First to court and won his job back and compensation.
What I'm getting at here is that bus drivers recieve no support from the company and get constant crap from the public all damn day.

I'd be moody too.

And I saw one of the managers driving a bus the other day, very badly too.
Guys lets all walk!!

I have to agree that far too many bus drivers (though not all) have far too few customer care skills. Whatever happened to the notion that the customer is always right (even when he's wrong). Afterall, if it wasn't for customers bus drivers wouldn't even have a job.

My advice to any bus passenger who can afford it is get a car. Even a cheap second hand one is likely to be more reliable than buses.

I hope your Chauffer looks after you better than bus drivers look after their customers.

Some bus drivers are ignorant ****s i'll admit, but you get that in any job.

If i was getting a bus that was only once an hour, and i'd lose a days pay, i think i'd get to the stop in plenty of time. If i still missed it, i'd get a taxi, better than losing a days wages.

I love it when bus drivers do that.

Especially when I'm on the bus. There's nothing worse than waiting on a bus and some impatient would be passenger trys to stop the bus and further delay all the passengers for thier own purpose.

Let on thoes in the queue, then move on. Quicker and more efficient.

i've said this before and I'll say it again, my dad was a bus driver years ago, Jim Black, some people called him Jock. He worked at Herries. He was well liked by both the public and his work colleagues. And I was/am really proud of him.
Most drivers are amiable and friendly. It's the miserable, thoughtless public that make them feel unappreciated and irritable. Wouldn't you feel like that having to look at everybodies miserable mugs, moaning about having ot get out of bed and go to work.
Spare a thought for them, they're already there, listening to everyone having a moan. If it wasn't for them, you'd have to walk, taxi, drive or find some other means.:(

you're just the type of 'customer' that bus drivers love, if it wasn't for customers like you, bus drivers would be a lot happier

Interesting that people are angry for bus drivers for doing jobs conductors should be doing.
