I've just bought a bag of Revels and they have that white "bloom" on them. What is this stuff and does it mean the chocolate is off or old or something? :suspect:

the fat comes out of it when they get too warm - not surprising in this weather.

It's harmless, it just spoils the 'texture' a bit

Yep, just a bit heat or sun 'damaged'
Try sending it back to the makers. You might reap multiple choccy benefits in the form of 'vouchers'
Used to work for my dad, but that's back in the 'old days' :D

Of course it could have been dandruff from the moustaches of the ladies that work on the production line

Yep. In fact, here's a pic of Great Uncle Gustav (http://www.tccd.edu/uploadedfiles/employees/350/courses/Trebuchet%202.jpg) preparing for his sons wedding.
This is the ''coffee cream stance''

It wasn't an old bag of Revels, was it? I thought they had stopped making these years ago.

What were they called before they were re-branded 'Galaxy'?

sad chemistry knowledge:
1) normal chocolate- one 'crystal' form of chocolate, which means that it has defined physical properties, affecting the taste, melting properties etc and therefore tastes good
2) when chocolate gets heated/ cooled, it can undergo a transformation to another similar but subtley different 'crystal' form, which has the same ingrediants etc, but has slightly different physical psoperties, hence the discolouration and difference in texture
3) different forms are called polymorphs

there endeth the lesson!

If these 'crystals' are mixed according to a certain 'method' would you call it a 'crystal meth-od' :D
