I might be being a bit blonde here, but I'd like to block a number from contacting me on my mobile... Is this possible?

I'm on o2 contract and I cant seem to find anything about it on the website...

Has anyone else done this?

:help:

I would give the customer service's number a call and see what they can do. But that person will know they have been blocked and probs ring on witheld.

If things get that bad then change ur number. T-Mobile changed mine for free when my ex was givin me hassle.

If they are being a realy nusiance, you can contact o2 and see what they can do, but I've contacted them before and their customer service wasn't the best I've ever had to contact :suspect:

It's 70% text messages and 30% phone calls, to be honest... and 95% of the time, they arent offensive, or anything... The person involved just doesnt get the message despite me ignoring them all the time.

I wouldnt say it was harrassment, but its hardly pleasent...

I'd change your number, seems the easiest thing to do and I assume its free, if not, send the bill to the person hastling you. I know its an inconvinience, but if its bothering you that much, surely its worth it.

Grrr its the principle though! I don't see why I should have to change anything, as I havent done owt wrong! :( Grrrrr!

Will give it a week before possibly phoning o2 to change number :(

I *think* that persistent hassle like this *can* constitute a criminal offence. From what you've said, you wouldn't want to go down that route, but it may frighten this person off, possibly, if you mentioned it?

[EDIT]

http://www.countingrules.homeoffice.gov.uk/files/pdf/countviolence03.pdf

In section 8C, at the bottom of page 26 (there should be link on the left of the pdf document anyway) on the right, there is a little bit about nuisance calls. Haven't got time to go through it all for you but as I say, you may want to use it as a tactical jab and see what happens.

But if youve changed your number and the person cant get in contact with you then you are better off! :D

Grrr I'm very much a woman of principle though! I've had that number for almost 4 years, why should I change it and have to go to the hassle and expense of texting people my new number? Its not fair!

I've gone through various tactics with the person... Firstly being civil, but with a distinct tone of dis-interest... Secondly ignoring them... Both have failed... So today, at 3.30pm, I replied to the 4th message I received today and asked them to leave me alone.

Fingers crossed eh :)

Try to ignore them. If they ring just don't answer and if they text just delete the message without reading it. Sure they'll get fed up if you don't respond. Its their money they're wasting so let 'em if they want.

Thats my approach with many people on my phone and it tends to work! :D

Why do people do this? this is so nasty and upsetting, not to mention all the inconvenence, i have had a problem with some idiot adding me to their MSN, only to be so, so nice to me, then turn into a torrent of foul mouthed sexual abuse....sad git!!
Fingers crossed and hope this person leaves you alone caprice...good luck sweetheart

I had the same problem, most mobile phones enables you to sellect at least x10 numbers in your phone and all other numbers will be rejected. So you simply set your phone to accept calls from people that you know. The person that keeps calling you will get a busy tone and hangup everytime they try to call you. They will give up after a while since they will think you have changed your number. Or the other thing is to pick it up and mute it, will cost them fortune !!

Awwwwww hun, no you can't do anything at all except go to the police but it has to be malicious/threatening/sexually harrasing calls or texts.

About a year ago I had a person from Saudi Arabia calling me, no joke...constant calls, I used to pick it up and they would wait on the other line for about ten seconds then hang up. First night they called me it was like 2.30am and I was pretty scared!!! I then phoned him four/five weeks later from work and told him to get lost, he was saying all this crap about not being able to speak English but he must have been able to because he texted me a couple times and it made sense. Anyway that number is dead and gone, your have to do the same, get a new number or ignore! They should get bored.......

I'm on O2 and I can block numbers - it might be connected with the type of phone you have? I can do it on one of my phones but not the other?!

Try it maybe on a friends phone that blocks numbers and see if when you swap back sim cards the numbers still blocked. Try blocking your mates number - so you can see if it works or not.

Good luck

I won't bore you again but I totally agree with you there Jimbob  Did you also know that when you dial their 0870 number, unlike normal 0870 numbers which appear as "National Rate", O2's appears separately under "Other Calls" on your (BT) phone bill and you pay more :suspect:

I know that you can block text message because I have done it but it may depend on what phone you have mine is a samsung D600 and its in the message settings. As you are on contract I should imagine that you should be able to block numbers as well but best thing to do is call them up and see what they offer.

I know what you mean I have someone bothering me with unwanted calls and voice messages and don't see why he should win by having me change my number especialy as I've worked so hard applying for work and the employers won't be able to contact me on a new number plus theres the hassle of telling people my new number and someone always gets forgotten as I'm not the most organized person around and I enter competitons I could miss a call saying I've won so why should i lose out for some idiot who can't take no for an answer

You could always just not answer it. They'd get the message eventually.

Thats what I had been doing... I'd ignore it, then the voicemails would be left for me... then texts, then more calls...

Was driving me round the bend!

Forward the message to 7726 and O2 can investigate it. Messages that contain premium rate numbers can also be brought to the attention of PhonepayPlus (the Premium Rate Regulator) who can also investigate their content, promotion and overall operations.

GOD IM GOOD!!!!!
