View Full Version : PCI Express slot? goldenfleece 10-07-2006, 09:12 my new PC does not an AGP slot but a PCI-E slot it recommneds for graphics cards......I cant use my old AGP card now and have to get a PCI-E graphics card.....is this better than AGP? neeeeeeeeeek 10-07-2006, 09:15 It can be better, it's a faster more powerful slot tahn AGP. If you only spend £20 on a new card then it's not going to be any better, if you want to play games then get the best card you can afford. Check out http://tomshardware.co.uk/site/vgacharts/index.html Some charts comparing different cards and frame rsates etc. goldenfleece 10-07-2006, 09:19 dont play games really, just want a basic one, just bought one online, 256 MB X300 card, £28...should be better than nasty built in 64mb 'onboard graphics' chip...... boobafet 10-07-2006, 09:40 just make sure it hasnt got a fan, if your not after power you mihgt as well cut down on noise. sugarcube 10-07-2006, 16:14 epoxy an old (large) heatsink onto your graphics card, as pci-e is set appart from the other pci cards, you should be able to get away with no fan what-so-ever. just a quiet thought ;) |
