I went to Eire about ten years ago and couldn't believe everyone put ice cubes in their pints of Bulmers and Woodpecker. Tried it once on a really hot day and it does work.

Oh yes!
I don't drink, but give me a pint of Magners on ice and I do! They'd run out of this in the supermarket for a few weeks and I was having withdrawal symptoms but they've got it in again now thankfully!
The ice actually helps get rid of the excessive gas in the cider, and its best if you have half a pint of ice and just keep topping up your glass. Mmmmmmm
bigtebone 09-07-2006, 16:18 been in morrisons meadowhead, they seem to sell out fast, must all like a bit of magners around this end of town...
Tesco hardly ever have any in - with the result I stock up when I see it. ;) Was in Whitby recently and couldn't find any offies that sold the stuff! I wasn't deprived though, they serve it in the Duke of York and the Middle Earth Tavern.
Excellent drink with loads of ice and a litre bottle as well
TonyTheYid 09-07-2006, 16:42 I've never seen it stocked in any Supermarket, However it is wonderful stuff.

pattricia 09-07-2006, 22:18 I searched for ages looking for Magners, after seeing the ad on t.v.After finding a nice large bottle,I couldnt wait to drink it.I must say, I was slightly disappointed. It was overly sweet, and not as nice as woodpecker or any of the other ciders on draught.
Plain Talker 10-07-2006, 00:18 I prefer Sirrus. myself. It has a lot more flavour, and a lot more body.
I like it ice-cold, but am not keen on it "over ice"
PT
Much prefer Weston's Special Reserve myself. Magner's is OK, but nothing to write home about.
I loooooove Magners, I normally hate cider, but I love this stuff :)
BasilRathbon 10-07-2006, 09:20 Ah the wonders of marketing!
Take a drink that's been around for years, come up with the startling idea of putting ice in it on a hot day, film an advert showing some attractive young people drinking it in a nice sunny place and bingo! Suddenly it's everybody's favourite tipple.
Surely it doesn't take a genius to work out that, by putting ice in a drink, it means you can't really taste what you're drinking so it could be any old cider?
