It may have been schoolboy over confidence, but even though we knew we had tough opposition, never once did me and my pals talk seriously of losing.
We were proud that games were being played at the new stadium and the whole town was confident.
Compare to now. From day one the team has been slagged off, in the press and in the Pubs.
Half of them were not fit, and some were dragged from their mothers bosoms.
We need an English manager, who will select the best men, not the easiest combination, so he can get on with his social life.

What annoyed me, were the comments made after England topped the Group B Table about not having to face Germany. This was expressed by the players, manager, media and fans alike.

It shouldn't matter who we meet. If we're good enough we should be able to take on anyone at ANY stage in the tournament. Also I don't hold with the line that it's all the managers fault and the players bear no responsibility. They're paid a lot of money for christ sakes.
