He is using the Rooney incident as an excuse.
As a United fan, I always knew his ultimate destination was Madrid - the Rooney bust up was very convenient for him.......

Although will United let him go.. he is a good footballer...
he's still young and lack discipline.. so does Rooney... Rooney got a red...
it shouldn't come as a suprise the way the game was heading (the style of play not the end result)... portugal are capable of playing a physical game but also play a very good tactical one and are very well disciplined..
england aren't as well disciplined... it's grea tto see players getting passionate about the game but it has to stop at a certain stage...
letting the opposition get you worked up does not mean we can blame the opposition... these players are professionals and must play like them..

Oh of course, every time England lose there HAS to be a scapegoat.

This time its smashing Ronaldos windows, once it was hanging effigies of Beckham, another time it was planting a 200 ft St George Cross outside the home of the ref who disallowed Sol Campbells goal.

With attitudes like this, England dont deserve to win anything.
I hate that New of the World inspired attitude which many England fans have, or adopt like sheep.

Until Portugal scored a consolation last night, they hadnt scored for 375 mins.
We failed to score against a poor side.
THATS why we are out. Because we are garbage.

Speak for your self, dont use the word 'we'
While ever this kind of 'beat me up please I am English' attitude prevails we will win nothing.
The team should get out on to the field with attitude 'We are English and are better than all you foreign scum put together'
Unfortunatly, as they are young men and have been indoctrinated from school to believe that being English is a disgrace they do not have this attitude.
People of my generation were brought up to believe that being an Englishman was the best thing in the World.
That is why won the World Cup in 1966.
Because we knew in our Hearts it was ours

What a load of tripe.

England won it in 66 cos they were at home, and in those days South American teams travelled poorly.

I am not ashamed to be English, i am just saying our reactions to defeat are ridiculous. Look at the Germans - they reacted with dignity, and they are a winning nation football wise.

P.S If there is a scapegoat, surely it must be Fat Frank!?

I was 15 when we won the World Cup, and it never was a worry to me that we might lose.
It may have been schoolboy over confidence, but even though we knew we had tough opposition, never once did me and my pals talk seriously of losing.
We were proud that games were being played at the new stadium and the whole town was confident.
Compare to now. From day one the team has been slagged off, in the press and in the Pubs.
Half of them were not fit, and some were dragged from their mothers bosoms.
We need an English manager, who will select the best men, not the easiest combination, so he can get on with his social life.
Erikssons true love became obvious when he started talking about how underpaid he was compared to others.
To a true leader, pay should be a secondary consideration

I wonder where C Ronaldo can go! Wherever he goes the opposition will barrack him, just like last night. Every time he had the ball I have to assume it was the German fans giving him down the banks. He has a football talent, obviously but it takes more than that to benefit a football squad.

Yes you are right. He has disgraced himself by turning on a team mate. If he does it once he will do it again.
Worse than that he has dragged his country's good name into the gutter.
Their football team, like Argentina's will forever be known as cheats. It doesnt matter how well they play, the tag of 'Cheat' will always be with them.

What I cannot understand the kid has been slagged off ever since rooney got sent off & he continued diving again last night against Germany, who I might add booed him every time he touched the ball. The kid has some real talent so why destroy his own reputation.

No way on earth was that accidental.
I watch him every week, and his whole body tenses up when the mist comes down.
I recognised it v Portugal, and believe he stamped on purpose.

What annoyed me, were the comments made after England topped the Group B Table about not having to face Germany. This was expressed by the players, manager, media and fans alike.

What the hell was all that about, actually being scared of an opposing team. Talk about a defeatist attitude.

It shouldn't matter who we meet. If we're good enough we should be able to take on anyone at ANY stage in the tournament. Also I don't hold with the line that it's all the managers fault and the players bear no responsibility. They're paid a lot of money for christ sakes. If we were playing in the final tonight do you think the manager would receive any praise? Would he hell.

Seems to be drifting off topic here...

I want him to stay so i can see Terry take his legs off!!!
I mean play a very 'fair' tackle.

Ronaldo is a diving swine, and while he's a good player I doubt there will be floods of tears when he leaves, not even from Man Utd fans.

I agree.
I don't actually believe Rooney meant it, but what about ZZ in the final !

What a nutter! His last game on such a stage and he loses all respect for his career with one mad moment. He didn't appear to lose his temper, it was not retaliation just pure vile empty violence.

Beckham hardly did anything, he was laid out on the floor and waved his leg in the general direction of the cheating git who had floored him.
I am getting a bit sick of all this 'England is wrong' crap
For heavens sake stick up for your country.
Beckham has been a good captain and deserves his retirement.

Ronaldo is a world class cheat who deliberatly went to a dubious referee and got a player sent off, who himself was the victim of dirty play.
How that ref was ever allowed to be in charge of another game just shows how low standards have fallen.

We'll see. He's been hankering after a move to Madrid for a year or so now. If he wants to leave, ultimately there isn't a great deal Man Utd can do to keep him.

Ferguson doesn't seem to be doing a great deal to stop the squad falling apart at the moment.

Bayern and Real want Van Nistelrooy.

Barca and Real want Ronaldo.

And this morning, there are reports that Real and Barca want Heinze.

He could be letting the wheels fall off as he departs.

What a crock of ****. If Abramovich hadnt come along, United would have won the league last year.
Heinze is going nowhere, Ruud has lost his hunger and Ronaldo has always wanted to go to Madrid.
