Why isn't there any more decent wildlife programmes on any more!! do you remember stuff like 'The living planet' and 'the life of mammals' or 'the natural world'.

They seem to have ceased and we get Bill Oddie showing us birds of Britain. I used to love sitting in front of the telly and watching lions attacking zebra's and rainstorms in the deserts etc . . all the really interesting, educational ones seem to have left terrestrial tv and you now have to purchase a dish to watch discovery for anything like that.

Come on BBC! lets see some more great wildlife doc's like the ones you used to do.

Probably because making good documentries is expensive TV. It's cheaper to fill the schedules with "The Really Wild Celebrity Gardening Auction Makeover Moving Abroad Reality Cop Hospital Lifestyle Show".
Seriously though, BBC2 still runs "The Natural World" which is usually good.
Don't kid yourself about docs on sky/cable tv. Sky don't make programs, they just buy in crap from America and put a voiceover on it, much like Channel 5 do.

Personally I love any wildlife programmes. There's something nice about seeing hedgehogs and foxes in someone's back garden and I've seen quite a few in my own garden especially during the hot nights when sleep evades me.

Wild animals are wonderful to watch and there are always plenty of programmes on about them. Could it be that the number of channels available to us now means that unless you pay for a certain package you don't get a choice?
