Is pole dancing a taboo subject in sheffield nowadays if everywhere is closing down? Now thats not very yorkshire like now is it??!!

Failing that (which I doubt would go down too well with the wife), there's a firemen's pole in the Spider Park playground between Crimicar Lane and Blackbrook Road. It's only four foot high, but we've all go to start somewhere haven't we?

Go to spearmint Rhino, i've heard they do group pole dancing classes or private lessons which are about £20 an hour. Id love to go but cant afford to with driving lessons at the moment but if you want someone to start with in the next few months let me know cos i want to get sme lessons too.

The course finished and now it depends how many girls are interested before they can put them on again.

I used to have belly dancing classes in woodhouse...the teacher there told me she had started a pole dancing class just on the sheffield/chesterfield border...I will try and find out more...but there are definately classes out there.

Don't know why I looked at this thread though! At 7 months pregnant I would hardly be able to wind my body round that pole!!! Maybe after though to get rid of the podge...I'll find out.

A couple of years ago there was a workout place in Woodhouse Village that did Salsa followed by Pole Dancing Lessons, don't know if it's still there though?:confused:

I'm up for coming too if anyone is going. Been looking at the Corp classes for a while but you need to be available 6 saturday mornings in a row and I can never be sure I will be!

Yeah I paid in advance, I don't think you do for the taster sessions though, so maybe you should go to one of them and see what you think.

Personally I didn't think it was paticularly worth it...depends what your doing it for. Yeah I learnt a few moves, but it hasn't made me any sexier!!!

yeah they do.. put 'sheffield pole dancing lessons' or similar into google and it comes up with loads.. i searched a while ago and found that they do (or did) them in a number of locations, including corporation!

why dont you go down to spearmint rhino one night and just watch the girls down there. its a good friendly atmosphire and not hard to pick up. look out of a small dark haired girl with the stage name "pebbles". she is the best pole dancer iv ever seen. lots of girls go down so you wont look out of place or just call me and i'll take you down.

If you have any suggestions for venues we can set up parties, ie a bar or club that might be willing to help either with a function room or sol use of a small nightclub, and venues we can set up the weekly classes, ie a dance studio or fitness studio it would be a great help.

The classes we set up are run as weekly Pole Fitness Classes, basically the same as a course but run as long as you want to keep going and paid for weekly. they'll be no more than £10 per class for an hour and half or £7.50 for an hour which is much less than a whole course as we have more poles.

If you wanna learn to pole dance you should check out PoleCatz. They do lessons at Corporation as well as many other clubs around the country.
I've donethe beginners course and Im up for doing intermediate and advanced, the only thing holding me back is the cost :(
SOOO expensive for lessons.

6 week course is £118, each lesson being 1 and half - 2 hours.

Best bet is to save up for your own pole (£180) and teach yourself using a DVD, there's loads around :thumbsup:

You can now pole dance at home!!!!
Ann Summers sell poles for women to put up in there homes and seduce there other halfs with. This pole slides between the floor and the ceiling no screws needs and stays up really strong.
It also comes with a garter fake money and a dvd telling you all how to do it!!
So get those extra lessons in at home for £60!!

I think you may find they don't teach them any more but My Pole (or Pole Central or PoleCatz: 3 different names... !??!) used to use Corporation in Sheffield.

Pole Play Wakefield classes kicked off a couple of weeks ago on Tuesday evenings and Barnsley ones on Monday evenings.

I can't help with the lessons but I do have a pole that people can use.

It is a splendid erection (even if I do say so myself) and I polish it regularly so you'll be able to slide up and down really fast.

me and a friend (she works for poleplay they do lessons up and down the country) have been thinking of doing lessons in sheffield (i have been pole dancing 5 years) but didnt think there would be much of a demand for it, i will talk to her and look at venues.

p.s the poles you buy in shops are not meant to be danced on, just around they will not take your weight, the only good quality removable pole you can get is an x-pole that retails for around £140

just posted on another thread about this poleplay are looking to start lessons in sheffield but need to know if theres any intrest in it as we know rhinos do them but it can be an intimidating place and most people would prefer to go to a venue that isnt a lap dncing club.

Come to my classes at Butterfly Studio in Meersbrook! £7 a go and they're great fun - I do beginners only classes on Fridays, or mixed level classes (beginners to advanced all in one class just getting on at their own level) on Sundays and Wednesdays....

look at the post from polegrrl she only charges £7 an hour, she's really good and its a nice group of girls that go. Theres No bitchiness and girls of all shapes, sizes and abilities go. Its good fun and amazing for toning! Its a professional studio as well nothing dodgy!
