Smack Jack 19-07-2009, 20:50 Went to No1 today. Not somwhere I would normally eat but for £5.99 a pop I was actually impressed. The food was pretty decent quality, staff were pleasant and the service good Albear 20-07-2009, 06:54 I went to Jumbo and the food and sevrice was good. Also took my friend visiting Sheffield from London and he said the service was good. Albear 20-07-2009, 06:55 I went to Jumbo and the food and sevrice was good. Also took my friend visiting Sheffield from London he said the food and the service was good. anna258 20-07-2009, 09:55 i have to say though that most of the food in both of the buffets are not authentic chinese. most people that go to the buffet pile up their plates with loads of chips and ice cream, whats the point. you might aswell go to another buffet. Meaks 20-07-2009, 20:01 Service? Don't you serve yourself? Vague_Boy 20-07-2009, 20:08 Went to No1 today. Not somwhere I would normally eat but for £5.99 a pop I was actually impressed. The food was pretty decent quality, staff were pleasant and the service good It's pretty good. There's a slight touch of "school dinners" about the seating arrangements and atmosphere, especially when busy, but the food is great. Service? Don't you serve yourself? At No. 1 the staff take your orders for drinks, bring you refills and clear away any used plates. They've always been polite and cheerful when I've been there. yorkyboyuk20 26-07-2009, 16:59 me and the wife went often to wokmania but never again 3 weeks ago we ate there food luke warm looks like it had been warmed up from night before. both of us had the ****s about an hour after eating there never again wots the staniforth road one like and what are the prices there MuteWitness 27-07-2009, 13:15 me and the wife went often to wokmania but never again 3 weeks ago we ate there food luke warm looks like it had been warmed up from night before. both of us had the ****s about an hour after eating there never again wots the staniforth road one like and what are the prices there If it's luke warm and its meat, fish, eggs etc. complain and don't eat it it's not worth the risk. toysie 31-07-2009, 16:06 JUMBO all the way. The No.1 is rubbish. julado 29-09-2009, 17:38 mikeybaby72 went to Jumbo this afternoon.....it was only his second visit to any of these Chinese Buffets and he said the food at Jumbo was much better than Wokmania. I have been to all three of the ones in town and I also thought that Jumbo is the best. Wokmania wins on fancy decor....albeit it has a chocolate fountain which has never been on when I have been eating there...and the televisions showing Takeshi's castle is good. Oriental No 1 is in a brilliant building.....but in the end it all comes down to the nosh......and we both thought that Jumbo beats the others. :D kyekye 04-10-2009, 18:34 help needed finding good chinese buffet in sheffield town centre anyone any ideas especially all you can eat;) 1960boy 04-10-2009, 18:38 Wokmania on West street but i don't eat out myself.I think it is an eat all you can for £10.00. roobarbpie 05-10-2009, 16:42 No 1 buffet opposite Ponds Forge is better than Wokmania imo. The food isn't as good as at a "proper" restaurant but it's more than acceptable, the kids think it's fun and I've never been ill afterwards (unlike several places I've eaten at in Sheffield) :o :D clutch 05-10-2009, 16:44 try hie moon hillsborough worth the journey foxydebs 05-10-2009, 16:59 Try jumbo's just off arundel gate, its better than oriental number 1. nikkit285 05-10-2009, 17:01 right .......wok mania is over priced and crap food jumbos is more of a dressier place (well it is for a buffet) but i find it rather loud and busy no.1 is less dressy but better qualitiy of food. (yes i no i eat out to much) foxydebs 05-10-2009, 21:32 right .......wok mania is over priced and crap food jumbos is more of a dressier place (well it is for a buffet) but i find it rather loud and busy no.1 is less dressy but better qualitiy of food. (yes i no i eat out to much) If its busy doesn't that show that it is a popular restaurant with a better quality of food.:) clea_4eva 05-10-2009, 23:30 No.1 is huge that's why it never appears full i prefer No.1 to Wokmania havent tried jumbos yet though Satyr 05-10-2009, 23:32 Personally I think they are all terrible. The food is very greasy so its hard to stomach a lot. I've been to slightly more 'upmarket' all you can eat's (£15.99) in other towns where you get at table service, food is cooked to order and everything tastes amazing. Having tried both Wokmania and Jumbos a few times, I cannot say I'm impressed with either goldenfleece 06-10-2009, 00:08 There is one at Centretainment place, forgot its name, its very classy compared to jumbos and Wokmania, about £10 a head and lovely kavanagh70 06-10-2009, 06:38 There is one at Centretainment place, forgot its name, its very classy compared to jumbos and Wokmania, about £10 a head and lovely Flaming Dragon. Huge Buffet and cook to order too (Teryaki I think it's called. Something like that). It's a bit out of town but better and has much more choice of meat, vegetarian options and fish. Crispy duck is available in the price too. Ps. no I dont work there It's just a preference (just refering to previous accusations from other restaurant recommendations) . littlestarshine 06-10-2009, 06:45 My opinion.. Jumbo's - Greasy and has a funny smell :( Number 1 - Better food, large open dining area, tables can be pushed together Wokmania - Nice restaurant, great children's price (free child per paying adult) but the food isn't as good as Number 1 Never been to Flaming Dragon so if anyone wants to take me..... lol x tas1 06-10-2009, 08:26 Don't do it! Venkman 06-10-2009, 10:15 A friend wanted to so we went to Jumbo's the other night. It was fine but that's about it. To be honest, I wasn't expecting too much but I certainly wasn't horrified. My main thought was that it cost quite a bit for what it was. I suppose it depends if you want to gorge yourself but I spent about the same (including a drink etc) as I do at East One which always leaves me full enough anyway and where I find the food much nicer. I was surprised at how much it cost because the all you can eat buffet I go to whenever I'm in London for work is much nicer in terms of food and atmosphere and only costs 6.50...and that's just off Oxford Street. Seeing the prices of Wokmania as well, I guess I'm waiting to hear reviews that say the money is really worth it. Maybe I just need to eat more? taxman 11-10-2009, 08:11 Anybody know what the difference is between The Grand Buffet and The Hot Pot Buffet at No.1 Oriental Buffet? Besides 4 quid extra. verona 12-10-2009, 16:20 Anybody know what the difference is between The Grand Buffet and The Hot Pot Buffet at No.1 Oriental Buffet? Besides 4 quid extra. With the Grand Buffet you keep ordering dishes of the menu what they cook to order, I think you can order 4 dishes at a time. The Hot Pot Buffet is raw fish and meat that you cook yourself in a large soup based pot in the middle of the table. A bit like fondu. taxman 12-10-2009, 18:12 With the Grand Buffet you keep ordering dishes of the menu what they cook to order, I think you can order 4 dishes at a time. The Hot Pot Buffet is raw fish and meat that you cook yourself in a large soup based pot in the middle of the table. A bit like fondu. Cheers for that :) Satyr 12-10-2009, 19:21 I thought the Flaming Dragon was the best of the buffets in Sheffield, although the competition isn't exactly tough... steel117 14-05-2010, 07:48 Kinaara - 261 staniforth rd - indian, thai and chinese buffet HannahS5 14-05-2010, 11:43 Went to Wokmania, late on a saturday night and the food was going a little crispy...not too good, but jumbo's has never let me down yorkyboyuk20 18-07-2010, 13:05 just been in there today for lunch with the wife and we saw a mouse running around in there it went into a hole in the wall not very good ill not be going in there again yorky baby tiger67 18-07-2010, 13:15 i went in last week, the food is very tasteless and it was cold, jumbo is much better. yorkyboyuk20 18-07-2010, 13:17 ill be going to jumbo from now on baby tiger67 18-07-2010, 13:19 jumbo is much cleaner, the food is hot and tasty and the price is cheaper than number 1, but then i dont mind paying a decent price if the food is good. verona 18-07-2010, 17:22 I would imagine most restaurants have some kind of vermin problem, you just don't see it. When I used to supply restaurants, I used to take the goods in through the back of an establishment and into the kitchen ,and most of them had these large rat traps with poisen in them. I never did see any rats or mice though. Pintsize2010 18-07-2010, 17:56 not only do no.1 have mice but me and my wife went and there was a clump of hair in the food, we tried jumbo's n they were better. but the best buffet we have found is at valley centertainment. good quality food, brilliant service and brilliant atmosphere. You can also pick raw food take it to the chef and stand and watch him/her cook the food to your liking. With over 80 dishes (including different types of sushi) we were spoilt for choice. Highly recommend anybody to visit this buffet jayne67 18-07-2010, 18:17 Try flaming dragon at centretainment.... FallenAngel6 18-07-2010, 21:30 Whats that Kinaara like? jaffa1 18-07-2010, 21:37 Went to Wokmania, late on a saturday night and the food was going a little crispy...not too good, but jumbo's has never let me down I thought Wokmania had been closed for months, when did it reopen? Anting 19-07-2010, 09:32 We go to Wong Ting - no strictly a buffet but still 'all you can eat'... Very impressed with the food and service - very friendly place. I think it's more expensive than the usual buffets but at £14.95(?) It's good value. chefkicker 19-07-2010, 17:22 Flaming Dragon. Huge Buffet and cook to order too (Teryaki I think it's called. Willcarr 20-07-2010, 20:41 Jumbo is definatly the best, been going for years, friendly service lots of food pleanty of seafood on the evening menu and a great range of sweets. Worse one in Sheffield is the one on West street can't remember the name advertises over 100 selections, last time we were there there were only around 40 and the sweets are unreal, I dident know batenburg cake and lemon tarts were Chinese. Willcarr 20-07-2010, 20:44 Flaming dragon is quite good for an out of town buffet but they dont have as big a selection as Jumbo but the extras are good they come around with carved beef and are always dropping extras on your table but at over a tenner its more expencive than Jumbo. foxydebs 21-07-2010, 00:35 Jumbo is definatly the best, been going for years, friendly service lots of food pleanty of seafood on the evening menu and a great range of sweets. The one on west street was wokmania. which has been shut for a few months now. oscar2010 24-07-2010, 11:15 i have been to no.1 oriental and didn't like their school dinning hall either and i totally agree with the people who said that :) but i think the standard of their food is acceptable in terms of a buffet place. moreover, i think they'd better serve more proper chinese dishes rather than sausage roll and pasta instead. who would want to come to a chinese restaurant to have sausage roll instead of crispy duck, come on ppl:suspect: HotPhil 26-07-2010, 07:30 I've still not been to No1 - will get round to it one day I'm sure. But I can see the sausage roll thing - I know a good few folk who aren't fans of Chinese type food and if organising a group night out, having something available for them means it might be considered as a venue. Plain Talker 26-07-2010, 08:36 I thought Wokmania had been closed for months, when did it reopen? It was still closed when I went past on Saturday. Hannah did post in May, so they may have been referring to before it shut down (wasn't that in around March/April?) HotPhil 26-07-2010, 09:05 It's been shut since around then, yes. steel117 26-11-2010, 07:51 10% discount at Kinaara Buffet with same day motorpoint arena ticket!
