After a drunken 2am conversation saturday night - who remembers these 80's TV classics? We used to watch them at school - Dark Towers was the best. They were part of "Look and Read" - and was presented by Wordy, a yellow hat that talked alot about "magic magic eeee!"

Dark Towers and Geordie Racer were the ones we got.

And anyone remember the song 'with me, magic e...wheeee, magic e'?

You wouldn't get that these days...

I bought the complete series of Dark Towers on Ebay last year, classic... They just don't make Educational TV as good nowadays... Apart from anything featuring Sophie "Ace" Aldred that is

I loved dark towers. To the guy who bought the DVD, is it still good, or are we best sticking with the memories?

Geordie Racer was filmed in the lighthouse next to my house.....so it was kinda weird when we watched that at school becuase we had all stood around watching it get made.

The guy who bought the DVD was me... And yes it is stil just as good as it was in 1981 when they showed it us in a dark room at Rivelin First School.... Even though the acting is pretty wooden by even early 80s standards, the storyline is still exciting enough to hide this.

I remember the lot! Through The Dragons Eye, was that the one where they had to go find golden eggs or something? I seem to remember that being quite weird, It was Geordie Racer that got a cheer when that was coming on in the classroom though hehe.

There was a great site which contained loads of L&R material, including details of when they were bring showed on the CBBC channel, but I can't find the link :-(

We watched Badger Girl, Geordie Racer and Through the Dragon'e Eye. I remember the magic EEEEE thing as being an orange dustbin thing with arms called Wordie. He was helped by cartoon characters in little rhymes, ie Bill the Brickie "Why don't you build yourself a wall with ED, to say it happenED" etc

AAahh Happy Days!

Oh yes, the Bill the Brickie bits were in the Dark Towers episodes.

And the magic E... They just wouldn't make kids educational telly like it these days, it's all Teletubbies and Boobahs, crap.
