Hello!
Just wondered whether anyone could help. For tomorrow night (yeah, I know I'm terribly disorganised) I'm doing a treasure hunt with my cub pack. The proble being I dont know where to start. Any ideas?
It will be taking place in Sandall Beat Wood so I could go for the list of things to find (5 different shaped leaves, a yellow flower etc), a find 20 hidden yellow pegs type thing or a clues pointing to specific objects thing. My only concern about the last one is that there aren't many destinctive things out there! Any opinions on what might be best? All ideas will be appreciated.
Go on! realise your inner child!
I like this sort of thing :) . Given that it's a bit short notice, you might be better off going with the list of things to find (the different types of leaf and flower etc). You might have to do a bit of a search in the wood first to see what there is to find.
I suppose the only trouble with that is that you could end up with cubs swinging from the trees in an attempt to get the best leaf or conker (yes, they are out now!). Either that, or the wood might end up stripped of flora by the end of the evening, depending on the size of your pack :hihi: .
Thanks on the speedy reply!
I've been to scope out the wood today and came back uninspired :( We only have 25 or so cubs so they're not really a danger to public health and safety!
I could do a very basic clues to objects with little tasks in each clue?
I must admit to not knowing a great deal about cubs and what they get up to these days, though I was a Girl Guide as a youngster :) . Do they still do things like those symbols you find on trails; you know, the ones made with stones and bits of twigs, or is that more the Scouts sort of thing?
I was thinking something along the lines of orienteering - a clue such as a code or a symbol at each stage which they have to decipher, and which leads to the next stage and something to collect at each point?

See, I knew you'd find something original!
Yeah! Good idea.
Best get thinking up some codes!
You could write rhymes with the last word missing so they have to identify the word and the item and the item leads them to the next clue. Or if they get the answer right they can come to you for the next clue which is to find a certain plant or something and so on. Easy to keep track of them that way!
Yeah, thats the thing. Health and safety and human rights say pretty much that we need to keep track at all times and cant be alone with any number of kids at all. Should be fun though!
How did the treasure hunt go?
It went alright thanks!
We has no accidents, no missing cubs AND they completed it all without losing interest. Ker- Ching!
Thanks for all your ideas by the way :)
