I just thought it might be an idea to start one of those 'where were you' style topics. Kind of like the whole idea of where were you when Kennedy was killed or when the twin towers were targeted etc. So just to be a bit nosey and for something to talk about, where were YOU when England lost on pens to Portugal? I was in the Long Bar upstairs above the Crucible watching it with some student friends of mine. How about everyone else ?

Suppose you'd think it unacceptable if that statement provoked a reaction?

Why should I think it unacceptable? I don't support England, so I doubt I'd get stroppy because of some reaction on here.

On settee at home, I think they played brilliantly, they did so well to get this far, no need for Rooney to act like a spoilt brat though.

Define troll ....... or are England so sacred and untouchable that only 'fans' may comment on them?

We missed 50 minutes as we had a power cut all over wisewood and Loxley... forunately my little lad managed to produce a small battery powered radio that we listened to until the power came back on.

Laughing at peoples misfortune, in this case the england players and the fans and then feeling like you need to share that with people. Tends to make people think you are a c*ck!

Thought they'd be used to it by now.

The England players = Misfortune of their own making (since 1966)
The fans = They got no sense of humour then?? It's a game. A GAME!!!!

The good thing about a public forum is that you are allowed to express your opinions. If some don't share those opinions, then hard lines.

When Germany go out, feel free to have a snipe at them. I won't lose my grasp on reality because of it.

Sorry if my snipe at England upset you, but my relationship with English football has been very thin since Sven the Robot took over.

It's ok, perhaps a little over reaction on my part. Glad Svens going now but could have done with Allardyce being given the job going forward........

Oh, I was in scarborough by the way - for someones birthday then in Yates' for the game!

^can't go wrong there. Funny how most flags DO seem to come out purely when England are playing football in a big tournament like this and stay up for however long they stay in for. Thing is compaired to somewhere like America, we don't seem to be AS patriotic as them in keeping the flag flying on a more constant basis...quite sad really. Having said that I have heard of people being told to take down their England flags for...dum dum dum!!!!!! Upsetting the none English part of our society. My what a terrible cleche' and quite annoying aswell come to think of it. My feeling is, it's our Counrty, has been for about 1997 years (until New Labour took the helm) so why not keep 'our' flag flying for however long we chuffin' well like!!

It was on in the afternoon in the US, I watched it in the living room, my huband fell asleep in the bedroom, belive it or not I invited the post man in the watch the last 10 minutes:o , I know he had been following the other matches all week, he was delighted, 10 minutes out of the heat and a big glass of cold water, then he was on his way.

There is a difference between walking and playing football on a bad foot! The ref was a disgrace, Ronaldo was a discrace... I'd have got myself a life time ban for throttling the little c**t if I'd been on the pitch!!!

In my local pub in Derby, head in hands, wondering why the ref had deemed it necessary to reduce us to 10 men against the 12 on his side!!

Quote from Neville on the Friday before entertained me though - Neville said: "In four years' time we are in South Africa, it could be 45C degrees, "
Has no-one told this bright spark that in June it is winter in the southern hemisphere. Temperatures in Johannesberg may be as low as zero!!!

ref was a disgrace: were you actually watching the game?????
he did a great job- didnt stop the game needlessly or hand out cards when they werent required. rooney was a fool for standing on someone (in a manner which could lead to a criminal inquiry if the portugese player decided to press charges) then shoving an oppenent, both actions right in front of the ref. ronaldo may have been trying to rile his opponents by appealing to the ref but that is common practise from most players (english players included! especially when playing for man utd!). so how else was he a disgrace?????
