Blaze - coz thats what she was named at the RSPCA and my mum's cats are called Sooty and Sweep! JoeP 10-06-2004, 21:21 Naming a cat is a serious business. Indeed, according to Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats cats have a name of their own that we're not aware of, as well as the name that they allow themselves to be called by us mere humans. A couple of ours arrived with names, but but two of ours were named after studying their behaviour for a few days. Curious (or 'Mr C') was named for his habit of getting in to everything. Jarvis was named after Jarvis Cocker. Kizzy came to us with that name but it fits her because she is a very 'kissy' cat. I remember calling a local stray FBPC, which stood for 'Fat B*****d Pussy Cat. Joe noseyrosie 10-06-2004, 22:21 Well I have: Pilchard (after Bob the builder's cat....she looks vaguely similar, but not blue. She was originally called Henry as we were told she was male!) Ivy....we wanted them to sound like an old married couple! Boddington...he's very ginger and when he was a kitten he had a huge 'beer' belly, (turned out he just had worms! lol!) Xena (warrior kitten) she's very very strange (very cute and cuddly and beautiful. but she likes to leave....presents....and miaow for no reason. fuzzy 10-06-2004, 22:43 I have Jazz and Delhi (inherited with this name), they also get called the daft tarts, because they are both daft and right tarts. Del also gets called Dil, Dilbert, and Daftbert, but it doesn't matter because she is too stupid anyway. My mum has cats called Stanley, Norman, Rhumela and the other is so silly i can't remeber it right now. I like Eric. magicgem 10-06-2004, 23:08 My cat was called "baby" I have no idea why? noseyrosie 10-06-2004, 23:38 In the past we've had: Daisy Bertie- black and white like a liquorice allsort Olive Moth Arthur -'cos he only ad 'arf a tail Lestat 10-06-2004, 23:55 Can't go wrong with 'McCavity' or if he/she has nice long whiskers like my first cat then call it 'Tash'.;) Andy78 11-06-2004, 01:42 my first cat was called Sasha. big stupid fluffy white thing with no brain. our current one is called calico, multi coloured, loving and very mischievous. Lickable 11-06-2004, 08:46 Its about the fact that when its fed she shouts din dins and now it responds to it... sorry... i had to say it :D Agent Orange 11-06-2004, 10:26 Probably Satan or Beavis. Memphis Bell 11-06-2004, 12:11 Our cat is called Hamish, not that he deserves such a class name cos he is so evil!! A friend of mine has two cats called Snickers and Kit Kat which i think are rather cute names. Don't think you can really name a cat till you have got an idea of their personality! Wavey 11-06-2004, 12:56 should have called ours fat greedy loafer then saxon51 11-06-2004, 13:13 When I was a kid, I'm sure nextdoor's cat was called 'Cooking Fat!' I always thought a good name for a cat would be Etcetera, or if it's black all over with one white paw, call it Gobbolina (the witch's cat) - it was in a story I used to be read when I was little!!! :) H.P 12-06-2004, 19:39 Originally posted by Wavey should have called ours fat greedy loafer then roflmao... A useful piece of advice is to imagine standing on the doorstep at 10pm calling the name of your cat. :-) saxon51 12-06-2004, 20:58 Originally posted by honeyplanet I have a mad tortie who can open doors called puss.. This is a slave and slavemaster situation, guess which you are. Your biggest worry should be the name your cat chooses for you. Whilst we had extensive and entertaining dialogue on many other topics, one of my cats was reluctant to tell me his name for either himself or me so I called him "the cat". I suspect he may have called me "the b*start who had my balls cut off" (in Cat there is a single word to represent that phrase) but whenever I raised the topics he remained inscrutable. His name didn't go down to well at the Vets, when they call out the name of the next "patient" there was a risk of some confusion if they call out "the cat" so they gave him my surname - which just goes to show how little Vets know about cat psychology. hotbombshell 14-06-2004, 12:45 I have 7 cats named Chelsea - After the football team Hope - She was the runt & wasnt sure if she'd live Faith - Black & white Angel - He looked cute Biscuit - Ginger cat Phoenix - He's eye reminded me of a bird Dowdy - after boy-george ( george o-dowd ) I think you need to choose a name when you have the cat to see if it suits them! Good luck Lancs_Vinnie 25-06-2004, 06:44 Originally posted by amhudson119 We may be getting a new cat. What would you call it? It's gotta be "Keith". LittleWitch 01-07-2004, 13:58 I read somewhere that it's best to give your cat a name that begins with the letter "s", because they can hear that sound distinctly over all others that humans make. So: Sophie Susie Suki Sloppy Spiffy Sexy Sniffy Sharon Sink Shoe Shed Spartacus Shiney Sausage Sally Sam Sherbert Spanky (ace name!!) cant think of any more right now. Tiddles was the name of my deceased hamster. She was such a lovely little thing. She died a couple of months ago and is still missed.
