Hi :)

We are getting a new kitten on Saturday :D at short notice  and so are in need of a good pet shop to go and get all the necessary gear from.

Are there are pet-superstore type places in Sheffield, and if so how do I get there on public transport

Or are the only pet shops the smaller local ones? I have a small one nearby but would prefer somewhere with more choice

Thanks :D

Excellent thanks Tony :)

Do you happen to know the name of the road it's on so that I can find it in my A to Z? If I can find the road name I can find out what bus to get there ;)

EDIT - Is it the one at Heeley Retail Park?

Yes, Pets at Home at Heeley Retail Park is where Agent Pipsqueak our hamster came fom. By the way, the retail park is off Chesterfield Road.

They sell lots of catty things I have noticed.

The number 53 bus stops right outside it, catch it from the bus station.

I do think that's a fab name for a Hamster :D

So, this Heeley Retail Park, thats the one with the big Curry's isn't it?

Last two questions, I promise.....

What bus can I get there on?

What time is it open until on a Friday or Saturday?

Thank you sooo much :D

EDIT - Thanks slh73, that just leaves one last question now :D

it's usually open til 8 o clock on a Friday and 6 o clock on a saturday. There are loads of busses that run along chesterfield road - 53, 25, 33, 34, 43, 44 and 253 if it decides to stop for you as it usaully bypasses me when im waiting to go to college outside Ponsford.

I went in but it was a bit weird. They had several ranges of food, but didn't have the full ranges of them - I was looking for dental food for cats and they didn't have any of it at all. Yet the shop seemed much bigger in terms of space than Pets At Home - who do always have the food your kitties need.

All you need to do is ask, we have started with basic ranges as all stores vary so much, we can get 90% of foods to order and popular products will be added to full stock range. We will do our best to help you out

I went in yesterday and tried asking - I was looking for some filter products for my aquarium. The member of staff who's name i can not remember just told me that if it's not on the shelf we haven't got it and walked off leaving me to look myself.

In the end (after a good 5 mins of looking) I found it but decided against purchasing it due to the total unhelpfulness of this one member of staff.

Stick to Pets at Home cause although the staff don't always know the answers they do find out not just leave you to it.

I'd recommend some of the little places over the superstores for knowledge and price on lots of items. Andy at West Street Pet Supplies is very knowledgeable, and has personally checked out every item that he sells. He also delivers (which is handy if you get the large sacks of cat litter in multiples like I do). I'd choose to buy from there over any of the chains.
