yes we used to go in cherry wood on our trips to norfolk park it was a bit of quiet and adventure behind the cafe had some good fun there

Remember them both well.The pond we fished for stickelbacks the rods were a stick a bit of string two matches on the end with a home made hook and the bait was a worm or if you were lucky a maggot And then there were the tadpoles. In winter if you were brave you could walk across the ice.The rope swing the rope was fixed to the bridge that was about 1963 I think had some good times around that area before the houses and flats were built

Cherry wood now that dose take me down memory lane, I used to go to
school not far from cherry wood, and in the summer months we would walk home through the wood down to norfolk park then home in the park district,
Quite a long walk realy but i did usualy have a female class mate to keep me company, AH yes cherry wood fond memories, APROX 1957

Hi. yea its St Aidens rd now,but then it was Arbourthorne rd.which was in two halves,remember???? The other half ran from the bottom of Fellbrig Rd. up to Eastern Ave.

Hi can anyone remember where we got the rope from to make the swing.It was pretty thick so it must have cost a bob or two.

Downings fields?
Did they have a boy called Peter Downing?
Went To Hurlfield in the 60s and lived in those cottages at the top of norfolk Park?
Went in Cherry Woods a lot, remember the pond but not the rope swing.

Don't know a Peter Downing, but I go back to th 50s when downings farm was accessed up a muck track which ran up to the farm from outside the park top entrance.In those days all the land on both sides of cherry wood(proper name Jervis Lumb) was farm land,long before it was taken to build the Norfolk Park estate and that was a long time after I'd escaped to south Manchester.

Gday phil we have spoke before on SF.The rope swing was about half way from the bottom of Arbourthorne Rd to Norfolk Park (the park itself) it was on the foot bridge that went over the little stream.
